Blog Differing Stars

1 Corinthians 15:40-41
40 There are also heavenly bodies and
there are earthly bodies; but the
splendor of the heavenly bodies is one
kind, and the splendor of the earthly
bodies is another.
41 The sun has one kind of splendor, the
moon another and the stars another;
and star differs from star in splendor.

Star differs from star in splendor.
Though called the same,
their classes are like species:
galaxies, systems, holes, new planets with poles,
burnt-out, forge-hot.
Some which we see, we're told, have blown.
From them, the Greeks gave us figures.
One sovereign spot fulfills a circumnavigator's hope.
The many are compositely compared
to Abraham's true children.
Now, with the Hubble, expansive grace
loses count of the Remnant.
None, though, show in the midst of sunshine.
Thus, facing earthward, we count days aright,
leaving us, till today's Sabbath starts,
to wonder about faith's theatre tonight.

I love your vocabulary and rhythm in this poem. This reminds me of Isaiah 40:26
Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, not one is missing. ESV

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and that verse, Nicola.
