I was wondering if there were any Christian art communities like this one for writing here at Christianwriters. I know there had been a discussion about adding art and music sections to CW, but does anyone know if there are any existing ones?

I don't know, Lynae. It's been so long since I've seen anything about the groups that I haven't a clue. Sorry. 😖

I am hearing it for first time, sorry no idea about it

Hmm. OK. Maybe that's not something artists do?

Artists certainly do have their communities, but they tend to be on other kinds of platforms. It wasn't very easy finding a warm community, at least when i was skipping around, not for any art, writing or else, then to find a Christian one was a bit more difficult, too. If you want one similar to Christian Writers, Christian Forums seems similar and has an arts section, but i never joined the forum, so i don't know what it's like. However, mostly i see artist communities being on Discord, Cara, Instagram, Twitter, Bluesky, Twitch, Reddit, Facebook, so on and so on, and communities created by artists who have a course or school or some other kind of instructive platform. Whether this one or that one are warm or not, trial and error. So there's that.

I've seen a couple places for writing, how pleasant they are is another matter. CW is a rare treasure.
Thanks, I'll look into Christian Forums.

Artist tend to be more tangible, tactile. You might find something near you like this group we helped last year in WNC: https://marqueeasheville.com/
Maybe. I don't really know much about artists, as I've never really hung around them. Most of those I have been around either 1: have talent but don't believe it, or 2: think they are the greatest artist ever and really aren't that great, lol. I like the find the first group and get them to draw stuff for my little church paper, but lately it has been harder, so I've been trying to draw more stuff myself. Since it seems I'm having to do more illustrating, I'd like to at least do a descent job, so I'd like to try to improve and maybe find a group to help me in that department, much like CW for writing. So far, the best thing I have found is practicing stuff off of How2Drawanimals.com . but that is still kind of just copying their stuff.

so I've been looking at that site, but... I don't think they are as friendly as the people here. Seems like every thing I click on has warnings for everyone to PLEASE BE NICE TO EACH OTHER!!! so I'm thinking they have a problem with debating in a kind and loving fashion. To be fair, even most church people have a serious problem with that, so this site is the pleasantly abnormal exception. I wish we could have more peaceful and kind debate in the country as a whole.

Oh dear, well, at least you did try and look. It might be due to it being a bigger, broader forum. Either way, i've noticed that, too, about popping around in other places, that it is awful difficult to find a good place. Even in some places where the folks might be friendly, oftentimes the community is loose and thus there lacks the warmth and closeness. Yes, arguing is quite the problem sometimes, in the church and elsewhere, too, it depends on the people; i too wish we could have peaceful and kind debates, or even strong disagreements yet still be peaceful and kind in heart.

Might this be art? I made this in Kentucky after the tornado for the wife of the pastor hosting us.

My husband is an artist (primarily sculpture, also painter). He communicates with other artists he doesn't know from time to time; work critiques, etc., but I'm not sure what kind of forums they use. I'll ask.

Bummer, I was excited to hopefully be of some help, but he didn't have any specific suggestions. He bounces around and reads, but doesn't really engage.

We have a local 'creatives' group that includes a variety of types of artists, and we've talked about creating an online presence of some type but have debated about whether it would gain traction or not.

Lol. Not drawing. But drawing on the right side of the brain..
The stone is a highly included agate. Great color. Great choice of where to cut and shape. I wish I hade a hundred of them.
