Devotional Are you following the first commandment?

And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. Mark‬ ‭12‬:‭30‬ ‭

If you are asked if you love God, your answer should be "yes". Now, what does that answer actually mean to you? Do you love God only when it is convenient or do you love and worship God throughout each day. Is God involved in everything you do each day? Do you recognize God's work as you drive each day? Are you in continuous prayer with God day after day? Do you truly know God and does he know you?

@Lonestar648, you ask some very probing questions. These types of questions make a person ponder whether or not they are actually following God or if they think they follow God. I believe I can answer "Yes" to each of those questions. I personally like questions that make me think. These questions are excellent.

I am glad you like these questions. Since the small group I send these Daily Messages vary in ages 16 to 85, I try to do messages that will make each reader think about their commitment to God, the youngest members often find these questions very difficult.

Wow, this post was great. Thanks for sharing! Yesterday at church, the sermon was on the first commandment, and the sins prohibited by it. This is a very important topic. The timing makes me wonder if God is trying to tell me something...

I think God knows how many people only think they worshiping God because they spend an hour in church Sunday morning, but they are worshiping power and or money the other 167 hours of the week. As a Believer we have been born again by our faith, not just an hour on Sunday, but 24/7/365. This is a very important topic that so many who claim to be Christians need to really hear so they can wake up to the reality of what is happening on the path they following.
