I keep constantly watching TV Preachers saying that we are in the Last Days. I'm also constantly reading articles saying we are in the Last Days, which are described in the Book of Revelation. I find that all deeply disturbing.
I have prayed to the Lord about it; saying, "I don't want all those horrible things happening during my lifetime. Especially not to anyone I know personally; or not personally, like member of christianwriters.com."
What does anyone reading this think about it?

If one is a believer, s/he probably won't be here when it all happens. God will have snatched everyone up first. Though I know some have other opinions. And whatever happens, it is God's will.

They have been saying that for years upon years, the truth is only the Lord knows.

I think we were called to obedience and faith in Jesus, not to comfort or safety. However, if we remain in Him, He will give us peace and joy, things that exist without regard to our comfort or safety. Corrie Ten Boom wrote extensively about this very thing in her work about life in the German concentration camps.
Take a long look at John 16. Jesus says lots of scary things, but He ends on an up note:
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Matthew 24:36 says "No one knows when that day or time will be. The Son and the angels in heaven don’t know when it will be. Only the Father knows."

So if only the Father knows, and won't even disclose it to Jesus or the angels, how could anyone on Earth know?

Believers have been talking about the Last Days for 2000 years. Based on the events that have been knocked off the prophetic calendar, we're closer to the end than ever, but until that day, our marching orders that Jesus left remain intact: love God, love your neighbor as yourself, and tell people about Jesus.

There's a new film out called JESUS REVOLUTION about when Greg Laurie became a Christian at Pastor Chuck Smith's Calvary Chapel in California. I recently showed this short video at church on Sunday night and Pastor Greg Laurie shared about how America needs revival, and talked about what the Bible says about how that works. It's a short video and worth the watch.

Hi William,

The author of Hebrews wrote, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these “last days” he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe” (In Hebrews 1:1-2). Though it would appear we have been in the “last days” for the last 2,000 years, things get confusing because Israel was in its "last days" just before its destruction in 70AD.

While the phrase “last days” is also accurate for today, I tend to think we are nearing the end of the church age, which could go on for a while yet. Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

And the advice given by the other viewers is solid. “Let us plan for tomorrow while being ready to leave today.” (source of quote unknown).

Blessings to you! GYH

As I read my Bible, I cannot help but think that what I am reading parallels what we are seeing in our world around us. Earthquakes in many places, young people disrespecting their parents, just to name a couple of the signs. However, we have to keep working for the Lord.

GREAT QUOTE! !

May all His own grow in faith and in Master Jesus' grace to understand His mind and His heart toward Him and toward His Father, so we, too, might have trust in He with Whom we have to do. Even in the pains of illness and struggles and betrayals, He knows how to keep us, and He will, especially when ask Him to and then trust Him to do so. But it's like Job said, that even if He kills us, we'll still trust Him. We want whatever He allows us to go through, because He does know what's best for us, like a loving parent, and He's the source of every good thing, even the best good that the highest imagination of a young child could dream about, and so we know that His will is best left to His hands, and if our minds rail and our hearts cry at it, we can still trust Him!

We might or might not be getting close to Tribulation, Rapture, Return, and all the exciting things God will finally do to repay the vile evil of this present World system, but we can know that whether or not we see those days in this lifetime, He has us, and more tightly as we trust Him.

Jesus also mentions "as it was in the days of Noah." I don't think that reference was inconsequential.

God wiped humanity clean in the days of Noah, because they had grown so wicked. The only other time He did that was Sodom and Gomorrah. Even then, Abraham negotiated God down such that only a handful of decent people needed to be in the city to forestall its destruction - and there weren't even that.

A lot of the sheer degeneracy we're seeing is being amplified for effect. There are still a lot of reasonable and decent people out there. The degeneracy is spreading quickly, though, and I don't think, for many, there will be a dawn after the darkness comes.

I'm always a little confused about the whole "end of the age," and "end times," thing. I know that we have Revelation, and there is enough in Revelation that points to it being prophecy. And in Revelation, the events, as they unfold, don't look like much fun.

I used to follow this stuff, but now I don't. You and I can't change it - it's inevitable. Everyone usually says that this is "God's Plan," but I don't think that's the case. I think it's God telling us that the fate before us is a direct consequence of our fallen nature and of our choices. And right now, even amongst believing Christians, our choices haven't been all that great (and I'm no different than anyone else).

In the end, the only thing you can do is to just live your life and follow where God leads you. Cling to Faith. Trust in The Lord. Try to dissuade those headed down the path of destruction. Because, invariably, what's going to come is going to come, and none of us are going to stop it.

And there is a certain measure of peace knowing that God watches over you, and that God will protect you. Not every bad thing in your life is adversity, and not every good thing is a gift. Just deal with the problems as they come and move on.

I can tell you from personal experience, I've been a lot happier living like that.

I should write more stuff like this. I've had a headache over some ads being blocked. Writing all of this has made me feel a lot better...

...OK, maybe a little better...but better.

When I hear that these things are God's plan, I think it refers to God's plan to deal with the evil outcomes of our sinful choices. If it didn't have to be this way, God wouldn't force it to - He's good! But the path to degeneracy and destruction is in not believing that Jesus died for our sins, was buried, resurrected and witnessed afterward and, due to those particular beliefs, being driven to call on the name of the Lord to be saved by verbally confessing Lord Jesus (because, according to the Scriptures, it's with the mouth that confession is made to salvation!). So, the World is going one way - and that's inevitable - and Christians, who are Christians in accordance with the Scriptures, are going the other way, even if the Worldling does a lot of good and the Christian does a lot of evil, because reality is and will conform to God's plan. And that gives me a lot of comfort.

Thank you for some clarity on the troubled waters we find ourselves in.

If I may share a few thoughts. While divine wrath is one possibility, some are of the opinion that God simply lifted His hand of protection from America, much like He did with the crew on the Titanic. The crew ignored all the warning signs and God allowed the arrogant and imprudent crew (of the Ship of Dreams) to plot their own course through troubled waters (Proverbs 16:25).

God knew Titanic would be ripped in half by its own weight and sink to the bottom as it did. God knew Titanic would eventually dissolve into nothing more than a rusty stain on the ocean floor. Ironically, God is now allowing Titanic to continue her maiden voyage 2 miles beneath the surface, but this time powered by bacterium that will take her to a new port called Oblivion.

America is the Ship of Dreams, and its crew has taken it into the iceberg of insanity. Is there hope? Yes, for those "gifted with the saving grace of God" will find their way to the rescue boats of salvation in Christ Jesus (John 3:16).

This is so true. I recently read that the Israelite nation, because of their sins, was taken into captivity by the Babylonians. There were other nations that fought against Israel, also because of their sins.

Agreed.

The last thing Jesus left us with was the Great Commandment and the Great Commission, and if that's my priority, all these other (very good things) recede in importance in service to those marching orders.
