During my daily perusal of the internet, I come and have come across quite a lot of annoying ads, some that I'm afraid I'll accidentally click on, others attempting to redirect me to suspicious sites. I'm really tired of this happening and am thinking about using an adblocker for phone and computer. Any suggestions? I've heard uBlock Origin is good. Thoughts? Has anyone used uBlock?

I don't recall ever hearing about it. I've used Adblock Plus for ages. But I looked up Ublock and just switched over. Glad you asked the question. Thanks! 👍

I think Brave automatically blocks adds, so I'm not really sure.

I was a huge fan of uBlock Origin on Chrome for many, many years until it stopped working recently and I was forced to find an alternative.

uBlock Origin has effectively been disabled for most users on Google Chrome due to the browser's full transition to the Manifest V3 extension model, which restricts the capabilities that made uBlock Origin so powerful. While experimental workarounds briefly allowed it to function, the latest Chrome updates (as of November 2025) have removed these loopholes, making it impossible for most users to run uBlock Origin as before on Chrome. (The only way to keep using uBlock Origin at its best <as far as I know> is to switch to Firefox or browsers that still support Manifest V2 extensions.)

Personally, I'm experimenting with uBlock Origin Lite (simplified version, compatible with Manifest V3, but less effective at blocking trackers and ads) and AdBlock.
