Genesis 1:3 KJV...And God said, let there be light: and there was light.
There was chaos and darkness. Nothingness was in the beginning but God in all of His greatness when he spoke "Let There Be" and obedience and order appeared, there was light. Verse 4...And God saw the light, that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness. Verse 5...And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Notice, light was dependent on God to become what He said and radiates God's Power in creation. For us the Bible records His Greatness with "Light" Psalm 27:1 KJV...The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? Light dispels (drives away anxieties or dangers of darkness) so we have no reason to fear. Salvation guarantees the defeat of adversaries.
Light in the Old Testament references a life that is pleasing to God, Psalm 43:3 KJV...O send out thy light and thy truths: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles. One of my favorites references to God's Light is in Psalm 119:105 KJV...Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. The lamp references walking short distances the light is when we are on roads with twists and turns. Isaiah prophesied about God's Light in chapter 9:2 KJV...The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Jesus is the "Light" in the New Testament, a star in the heavens was used to lead wise men and shephards to His birth place. One of the songs that comes to mind is "Walk in the light, beautiful light, come where the dew drops of mercy shine bright. Shine all around us by day and by night, Jesus the light of the world". Matthew 17:1 KJV tells us Jesus took Peter, James and John to a high mountain. Verse 2...And was transfigured before them: and His face did shine as the sun, and His raiment was white as light. And the most profound passages John 1:1-5 KJV...In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. 2...The same was in the beginning with God. 3...All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any things made that was made. 4...In Him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5... And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
In the movie industry, before production can actually start you will hear the director say "Lights, Camera, Action" and the filming process begins. Camera's can record what it does not see, action may take place with the actors doing what the script tells them to do but if there are no Lights nothing happens. God is the creator, director and script writer. The Bible tells us in Acts 17:28 KJV (A)...For in Him we live and move and have our being.
For you and I, when we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Saviour God's light was deposited in us. Do you remember the song we learned as kids "This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine, Everywhere I go, I'm going to let it shine...let it shine let it shine let it shine. Now we are the adults who are teaching our children and grand children that same song. But there is a problem, our Christian walk in some has become compromised, our light dimmed because we have allowed the world to lead us instead of God's Word. No one would ever question us being Christians because our light was on for all to see. It was on in our relationships, speech, compassion and kindness toward our brothers and sisters but something changed.
The good news is we can get back on track, the better news is because of The God In Us, His light though dim in us still has a flicker. The Best news is all we have to do is ask Him to forgive us and He will. Restore the right Spirit in you and He will. Ask Him to bring you back to where you first believed. The weapon satan uses on us is God isn't going to forgive you this time, you have really blown it. That is the biggest lie we fall for everytime. It is because of His Light (no matter how dim it may be in you) that you will be forgiven.
Everyone has stumbled and or fell in the walk with The Lord, me included. It is because of our imperfection that God can use us. To Him, the greater the struggle one has overcome...the better their witness will be to one going through what He brought us out of.
