"Tales of the Magic Realms: The Death of a Dragon" is about a thief, who had just escaped a city being destroyed by an immense dragon for the second time in his life, that takes refuge in a ruined manor house within a destroyed ancient city. Not long after, he finds himself in the company of a master swordsman journeying to visit a place of legend that he'd been told about during his travels. On the journey, they're joined by the master swordsman's brother, a traveling Lightbringer who spreads word of the Creator's grace and mercy, and a formerly crazy woman who was healed after a prayer for restoration. As they travel, the thief's eyes are opened to the mystery and wonder of the intensely magical world of Terebethia, is confronted by the very nature of good and evil, and sets into motion an incredible series of events that will echo through the ages. Though, in all this, the true beginning of the story is when the dragon falls asleep under rafters within the same ruined building the thief was hiding in and the death of a dragon.

While magic is and will be featured heavily within the series, it is presented as a natural force that can be harnessed and channeled through practical knowledge and understanding and not acts of sorcery. Also, while not Christian in name, the book presents views on the nature of good and evil, the gift of salvation through the sacrifice of a redeemer, seeking justice rather than vengeance, as well as the importance of examining the world around you through critical analysis.

The novel is just under 74K words and has been placed in a Google Document online for easier collaboration and tracking of comments and suggestions. If you'd like to participate, please send me a DM and I'll provide you with the link.

What I'm seeking is general feedback on how it reads and notification if any errors escaped my round of self-editing. Leaving a comment on any chapter that involves characters traveling or time passing by would also be very helpful as I'm trying to gather all the needed details to make an accurate map of where the main characters travel. My hopeful goal is to get everything finished so that I can begin submitting the novel before the Christmas rush. It isn't a hard deadline, but would be nice if I could accomplish it.

If you are interested, please send me a PM. Again, it being in one month would be preferable, but so long as you are able to make regular progress, I don't mind it taking longer.

It sounds interesting and I wish I could help, but the next 2 months are so busy for me, I’m afraid I won’t have the time to meet your Christmas deadline. Good luck to you though!

I love the sound of yourmagic system rhough as it sounds close to what I’ve been trying to develop for my own world! If I can get the time, I would love to pick your brain on how it operates in your world to maybe finally get mine nailed down!

The magic system isn't exactly defined. It's more of just building it as things go. This book actually takes place before any Human truly has a concept of what magic is and lays the groundwork for the rest of the series.

Edit: I wouldn't mind sharing thoughts about building your own world. Just pop me a DM and share about where you are in making it.

I may be wrong, but I think it's more a matter of post count than time. You'd have to check the rules, but meaningful participation should get you there very quickly. Unfortunately, DM is the only way I can share the link.
I don't think you're wrong about that...but time and post count kinda go hand in hand for me. I've been here a couple of days, and this reply makes three posts total. I'll come back when I have enough posts.

You may try contributing to the critique forum. A lot of the things are shorter and will give people an idea of what you bring to the table as a beta reader.

Good to have you back again.

Your book sounds interesting, but I'm reading for several others right now. I don't think I can make your time frame. I've discovered that being retired is very time consuming!!!

Good to be back!

If you think you can manage it in the near future, I'd love to send you a link. I purposefully made the chapters more on the short side, around 5 pages double spaced each, to make it easier to read if you have less time or a shorter attention span.

Oh! So that's why I can't PM! How many posts do you have to write before that is enabled?

This does sound like an interesting book. I'm still waiting to be able to better operate on this site, but I may be able to help if you are still looking for beta readers.
