As most of you know, my hero brother came back, from his last tour of duty in Iraq, with a knee injury and suffering from PTSD. He retired as a wounded veteran after, approximately, 25 years of service. Although, he "changed", he is still my "hero" brother.
( As a "proud Sis", I find myself "saluting" him in my heart from time to time....but don't tell him that!)
Whenever there are events at his church, honoring the military, he puts on his uniform and, with other retired military of his congregation, and together they perform
SW- thank you. I just finished a revision to this if would like to reread it.and the presentations to honor the flag.
My brother, also, enjoys riding with other decorated veterans in parades at various events that honor them, those that have fallen, and those still in service. Can you all tell that I am typing this through tears of pride?
For many, many today will be a day of pride and tears. They will remember the day that they got the news that they had "hoped against hope" that they would never have to receive.
And, sadly, there are some that will spend today without giving a single thought, or express any sentiments of gratitude, in regards to those that sacrificed their lives just so that, even this country's ungrateful citizens, may STILL be able to enjoy freedoms that some other countries do not have! LORD, HELP THEM!!!
Thank you, Lynn, for letting us know the TRUE origin of this day. It makes perfect sense that this DID start out as a Day of Prayer. What better way to honor the military than to go before the Lord's "throne of grace" and offer up sacrificial prayers on behalf, of their grieving loved ones that are left behind.
We, the beloved of our Father in Heaven,MUST be sure to keep that tradition by remembering them in our prayers today. Amen?
Let us, also, include intercessory prayers for those who were wounded while serving, and are struggling with injuries that have changed them physically, mentally, or both.
Praying for them to receive miracle healings, the best medical provisions, and anything else that is needed for them to know that their service was not in vain. Praying against any thoughts or plans to harm themselves or others and not be too proud to seek help when they need it. And, for our country to raise its standard of provisions for our veterans to its highest bar of quality.....AND KEEP IT THERE FOR ALL TIME!
And, of course, salvation for ALL. Veterans, and their loved ones.
The unsaved "defenders of freedom" should have opportunities to experience the true freedom for themselves. Amen? That eternal freedom only comes from knowing, and loving, the One who made the ultimate sacrifice Himself - once FOR ALL: Jesus Christ. Amen?
Praying with you all for all of these! In the Name that has the power to change the impossible to the miraculous:
JESUS CHRIST! AMEN AND AMEN!!!
ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH GOD SO LET'S PRAY!!! ALL MEANS ALL!!!
Amen and amen! I'm grateful for your father's service, Walter. Thanks, Lynn, for always posting significant posts. My dad was buried in Andersonville National Cemetery with Taps played. He was a veteran of WW2. I'm grateful for all men and women who laid their life down for the freedom I and others experience today. God has used our military to help defeat evil countries.
