Blog Obedience is simple (Noah's example)

' Noah did this; he did all that God commanded him.'

Genesis 6:22 Amplified Bible Classic

Obedience is in the doing. And this verse in view makes it very plain. "He did all that God commanded him"

It does not get any simpler and straightforward than this. Simply stated, he did what God told him to do. We can all learn a lot from this elementary lesson on obedience.

Noah lived in a time very much like our own. I don't mean to say that he had all the fancy gadgets that are part of our modern world, obviously. But he did live with people who were in no way interested in pleasing God, yet lived lives that honored God. The bible tells us that the world was full of violence and that people were consistently working for their own interests. The world was full of depravity of all kinds. The similarities are dark and should cause every person who loves the Lord and fears God in reverence to take heed!

We can learn from his example. It is not hard to be obedient. It's in the doing, not just the hearing. It doesn't matter what other people might think about how we choose to stand, as long as we stand! If we find our comfort in going with the flow, then we are in a dangerous place. We are called to be beacons of light in a dark and dangerous world! We have to stand for the truth, even if it costs us our worldly reputations!

Noah knew what this meant. Day after day, as he built his ark, his neighbors would walk and wag their heads at his utter foolishness! What could this monstrosity that he was building be, and why on earth would anyone do such a foolish thing? You can hear the sneers of a depraved community, and his ridicule and scorn were probably the scorn and merryment of all of his neighbors, and the people who heard of Him surely made him the laughing stock of the community. He did not let the opinions of the world around him deter him from doing what he was told. The culture did not influence him enough to give up; it didn't change him. He trusted what God had said, and he did what he was told.

If you have a hard time with obedience, if you struggle with living a life worthy of your calling, then perhaps you need to put your phone away and stop letting TikTok and YouTube inform your conscience. I see people everywhere nowadays who spend all of their free time on their phones scrolling through endless videos for entertainment. Do you spend more time on YouTube than you do in the Word? Maybe that's the problem! We live in perilous times, and we are told to guard our hearts above all things! What we digest by what we consume influences how we think.

Noah did all that god said. We cannot know what God has said if we don't read His word. It's that simple.
