When I signed up for my ISBN I had to choose a book launch date. how important is that date as I might need to push the actual launch 2 weeks past the date I used?

Thanks for any shared thoughts.

This is what I found...

Providing a launch date for an ISBN is
mainly for the purpose of metadata and market planning; it is not a strict or binding commitment. A later-than-expected launch is a common occurrence and does not cause a problem for the ISBN itself.

Why a launch date is requested
  • Retailer planning: The launch date helps distributors and retailers like IngramSpark and Barnes & Noble know when to expect your book. This date is a key piece of bibliographic data that allows for efficient inventory tracking.

Thank you, that is what I was hoping. My only issue is that one retailer is taking a long time to send the proof. I was considering a split launch if I had to, but it seems I may not have to.
