Guard Against Apostasy

Since the first century, believers have openly transgressed against God by choosing “not to abide” in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Rather, they chose to abide in the philosophies and traditions of men, in the thoughts and ways of the world, and not in "the love of the truth" that they might be saved. They did not guard against apostasy.

The following verse reminds the brethren “our hearts are not just the seat of emotions but the core of who we are, containing our thoughts, desires, and motivations. Everything we do flows from it, meaning that the condition of the heart shapes our actions, relationships, and our lives. Guarding our heart protects from harmful influences, guiding us onto the course God planned for our life.” [1]

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. (Proverbs 4:23 NLT)

“The times we are living in are profoundly significant from a biblical standpoint. Increasingly, we witness a growing movement toward a one-world religion, which is gradually gaining momentum. This trend is evident in the rising number of inter-religious assemblies and dialogues taking place globally. While these gatherings are often promoted under the banner of peace, fraternity, and tolerance, discerning Christians must understand that they may be part of a larger spiritual deception foretold in Scripture.” [2]

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth and be turned aside to fables. (2 Timothy 4:3–4 NKJ).

The overwhelming impact made by Turning Point USA on the world community is a true wonder. How does anyone capture the magnitude of its message and power of its influence? Will Turning Point USA usher in the Golden Age of Christianity? Or will this incredible movement be what no one could have ever imagined, a cunning deception having come upon unguarded hearts?

“God never asked the church to hide truth to keep the peace. Yet today, many believers would rather stay quiet than being labeled, cancelled, or disliked. The church was never meant to be liked, but light! And light does not blend in with darkness but exposes it. Somewhere along the way we forgot that standing for truth will always make you stand out.” [3] Jesus and His disciples stood out, having chosen to bear witness to the truth, even the hard truths of Scripture “so many today” regard as disruptive, divisive, irrelevant for living the Christian life.

Discerning the Spirit

This article focuses on welcoming that which seems like an answer to prayer; but it is that which seems “so right” in a time when so much is wrong. But when the layers of “so right” are peeled back, the truth of the matter is known. This article is about discerning the spirit behind what has become the most incredible event in years. Many have said: “Never have I seen anything like the Charlie Kirk memorial.” What is this wonder unfolding before our eyes? What are we “to think and to say and to do?”

The Bible says to test that you may discern every spirit. Examine everything set before you, even the proliferation of political and religious movements, as with Turning Point USA. We are to hold to that which is good, exposing and fleeing from that which is false, unbiblical. The Apostle John wrote,

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1 ESV).

Is Turning Point USA part of the “end time scenario” unfolding right before our eyes? Are we witnessing the end times in the midst of incredible change? This is not a conspiracy article alleging a false narrative about any person or organization. Rather, it is a genuine pause to think about these incredible recent happenings that (have in some mysterious way) captured the notice of the world. One recent notice, surprisingly, came from an Eastern European leader. An independent news agency reported:

“Russian leader Vladimir Putin offered his condolences to the family of the ‘slain conservative activist’ while claiming that the ‘disgusting crime’ was proof of a ‘deep rift’ in American society.” [4]

While Putin’s condolences are notable and appreciated by the Kirk family, his comment about the deep rift is true. The “deep rift” in American society is exactly what Turning Point USA is working to solve. Their mission is bringing conservatives together as a political movement to prevent the “American dream” from being trashed, and to safeguard religious liberties from ungodly ideologies.

This sounds good, commendable, and many approve of their mission and goals.

New Faith Chapter

Turning Point USA
Faith added a new chapter to its organization. The new chapter is “on mission to equip the faith community to be culturally and civically engaged like never before, by inspiring and empowering pastors and their congregations to stand for the biblical values that our nation was founded upon.” [5] But wait, exactly who are these pastors and who are their congregations? Words communicate meaning but the same words do not always mean the same, and herein the caution to “take a slow walk around” what has been placed before our eyes. Should we be concerned? If yes, then in what way?

“Revelation provides a prophetic warning about the rise of a one-world religious system in the last days, symbolized by the harlot in Revelation 17. This system represents a false, apostate religion that deceives the world and aligns itself with political powers” [6] having the power to lead millions to forsake the Gospel truths and follow deceiving spirits.

The Bible warns a time when come when the world will give up the true “exclusive Gospel” of Jesus Christ for another gospel, a more inclusive gospel suited for the one-world religion. Pastor Don Green posted a tweet from Turning Point USA announcing its 2025 tour schedule.

Pastor Green was saddened to see the “list of influential guest speakers” with a diversity of faith values. Pastor Green noticed Michael Knowles (Catholic), Glenn Beck (Mormon), and Vivek Ramaswamy (Hindu). On the list was also Governor Glenn Youngten (Evangelical), and others with a diversity of biblical values.

The tour list reveals “Turning Point USA–Faith” is ecumenical in mission, on course to align with the Pope’s ecumenical desire for all faiths to be one, emphasizing the importance love and unity marked by division and conflict. (Source)

Ecumenicalism

“Ecumenicalism aims at promoting unity and cooperation among Christian denominations, emphasizing dialog and collaboration to overcome historical divisions.” [7] In doing so, ecumenicals elevate the virtue of love (that unifies) above the virtue of truth (that unites and can divide). As a result, verses like 2 John 1:9 become a line drawn in the sand, a warning to remain faithful to the doctrine of Christ. But when liberal evangelicals partner with love at the expense of doctrine, do they step over the line? The beloved apostle wrote,

“Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son” (2 John 1:9 NKJ).

“The doctrine of Christ is foundational to Christendom, emphasizing Christ’s teachings, nature, and the salvation He offers. Other key verses include 1 Timothy 4:16, John 14:6", and Colossians 2:9-11 [8] The Apostle Paul wrote:

“9Therefore God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name above all names, 10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:9-11 BSB)

More specifically, in Acts 4 and John 14 are two more verses (among many) that also speak exclusively to the doctrine of Christ, never to be compromised.

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved...” (Acts 4:12 NIV).”
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes unto the Father except through me” (John 14:6 NKJ)

From the above verses and passages we find doctrine foundational to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These verses and passages are wholly incompatible with Mormons, Hindus, Muslims, and other faith cultures. Is Turning Point USA–Faith stepping over the line to accommodate all faiths by emphasizing dialog and agreement in the spirit of removing doctrinal differences?

Final Thoughts

How will “Turning Point USA–Faith” manage the mayhem of doctrinal differences from each speaker? Each speaker will need to ignore the differences between and among themselves by focusing on what unites and not divides. And what unites is love, that unifying force common to all faiths.

The other unifying force is protection, the goal of Turning Point USA to bring conservatives (from all faiths) together as a political movement to prevent the “American Dream” from being trashed, and in doing so safeguard religious freedoms.

This article speaks only to “one piece” of a profoundly complex puzzle. The one-world religious system is the end goal. But its attempt to move to “one common faith” (from a multitude of faiths) is a monumental task. If one may presume, the Ecumenical Movement has “placed its trust in the power of AI” to author a new one-world religion, and to further presume the doctrine of Jesus Christ will have no place to lay its head. In this ungodly triumph “is the Great Apostasy realized,” and perhaps why Jesus asked if He would find faith upon the earth when He returned. (2 Timothy 4:1-9 ESV; Luke 18:8 ESV).

Closing

Will Turning Point USA help usher in the Golden Age of Christianity, or something else? The Bible is clear about a new one-world religion. Its ecumenical presence is evidenced by the incredible things happening before our eyes. When you see all these things coalesce into one religion under one government, its combined effect will become what no one could have ever imagined possible. And what might that be? The Great Apostasy, a cunning deception so clever millions upon millions will be led away from the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The Great Apostasy stands as a sobering reminder that truth can be forsaken, yet it also compels believers to cling more tightly to their faith. Throughout history, moments of doctrinal drift have threatened or undermined faith communities, but these instances also highlight the sustaining power of genuine belief anchored in Scripture.” [9]

Charlie Kirk Exposed: Why His Religious Influence is Misleading Many

Wise Saying

Among the gifts of the Spirit, scarcely any one is of greater practical usefulness than the gift of discernment. This gift should be highly valued and frankly sought as being almost indispensable in these critical times when the vast majority of those in the church are being led astray by strange doctrines, bizarre imaginations, and even miraculous works from the evil one. The gift of discernment will enable us to distinguish the chaff from the wheat and to divide the manifestations of the flesh and the devil from the operations of the Spirit. I'm not able to read all this at the moment. Bad headache. However, I did notice something, so I hope you don't mind a suggestion. When quoting the Bible, be sure you always list the version with the verse, unless they're all from the same version and you mention that. 👍 ::D

Hello GYH

As a simple layman, I love the subject matter, the structure and thoroughness.
At 74 years, I often miss some relevant points, so I ask for your patience.

Because the impact and importance of the subject (TPUSA and the nation), I'm asking a question for clarity.

After watching a bunch of Charlie Kirk's talks, and some of his joint appearances, I don't remember any of the other conservatives at the events talking about any other faith besides Christian; only the political, freedom to worship, or conservative part of the conversation.

If that holds true in this TPUSA.2, might this alleviate some concerns that the organization would direct us toward the one-religion world warned about in scripture?

I'm hoping to see it as pure in it's scope.

Hi Seeker2000,

Before answering your question, just a few words about Charlie Kirk. He was a phenomenal person and highly intelligent. His wife Erika said he was a force on a mission. All would agree, and his passing grieved many of us. And like you, there is hope TPUSA will stay the course and continue in a manner that is true to the doctrine of Christ.

Regarding your question, I was hoping all along Charlie would avoid allowing religion and politics to merge and become one. In the beginning, we may agree it was his goal. But that is not the goal of ecumenicals. We have seen TPUSA add a new chapter to the organization, entitled Faith.

Regarding Charlie’s talks, in one video he praised Dr. John MacArthur for his leadership, then claiming he had a library of MacArthur’s literary works. Of course, one may interpret that to mean Charlie was indeed fully onboard with Reformed Theology. But then there are also videos of Charlie claiming to be ecumenical, and others where he claims he has no problem seeing people sent from his rallies to the Roman Catholic church.

How are we to interpret Charlie’s theological span of understanding between Reformed Protestants and Roman Catholics? Would it be accurate to reason that in Charlie’s mind, there is no difference if both faith cultures love the same Jesus.

But there is a difference. We know ecumenicals (Evangelicals and Catholics together) have chosen love as the preferable way for all religions to unite under a common witness before the world. This new and more palatable gospel is the heart of an old publication entitled, “Evangelicals and Catholics Together.” The document was authored and completed in 1994, then signed by leading Evangelical and Catholic scholars in the United States… It was part of a larger ecumenical compromise in the United States that had begun in the 1970s…”

Most evangelicals and reformed protestants, like John MacArthur, believe ecumenicalism transforms the Gospel of Jesus Christ into a dead letter. Why? Because ecumenicals elevate love over truth, canceling out warnings like 2 John 1:9. Dr. John MacArthur wrote,

“I am convinced that “Evangelicals and Catholics Together” is a step in exactly the wrong direction. It contradicts the very truths it professes to stand for. It expresses a wish for unity but threatens to split the evangelical community. It claims to reject the appearance of harmony purchased at the price of truth, but it treats precious truths thousands have died for as if they were of negligible importance.” [1]

The split spoken of by John MacArthur has been ongoing for some time, which means each Christian will be led to discern for themselves what is true from what is false. More importantly, will they hold to the doctrine of Jesus Christ or be led away?

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God. For many false prophets have gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1 ESV).

All believers are called to test the spirits. What you read in this article is just the beginning of the journey. Be assured there is so much more to uncover. And yes, I was once an advocate for TPUSA but have since paused to reconsider my way.

Be sure to write again if you have another question.

Blessings!
GYH

I was not aware. I now understand. These are dangerous waters. Thank you.

My main concern is not with Catholic's love of Jesus, but with their love for all the other baggage that comes with Catholicism.

Perhaps someone in this great organization (TPUSA) will listen to words of truth. We as mortals often get things wrong, or at least that is the case in my case.

I'm thinking that perhaps someone in your position might be able to make in-roads towards the needed corrections.

God's grace to you and yours my friend.

Will someone in TPUSA listen to words of truth? It would need to be someone with influence. The Lord Jesus had profound influence before the Jews, and some did indeed listen, gladly receiving the Gospel of their salvation. But the Pharisees crucified Jesus for speaking what they did not want to hear. It would be no different with TPUSA leadership. Within apostate churches are brave souls that do indeed speak up. But then they fall under condemnation when leadership learns they have been questioned by a lowly congregant. And then the fangs come out. What do they do? Leadership hangs a sign (figuratively speaking) over the head of those daring to expose them. The sign says: “Divisive,” and the congregant is emotionally crucified.

Thank you for the kind words, the vote of confidence. The most any of us can do is pray, stay in the truth, make sure we discern what is true from what is almost true, and when given the opportunity share the truth with open hearts.
Grace to You!
GYH
