"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"
~ 2 Timothy 4:7

As we prepare to bid farewell to 2025 and ring in 2026 tonight at midnight, I thought this might be a good time to pause and reflect on the year behind us. What did you accomplish, what did you achieve that you're most proud of? Did you start writing a book, finish writing a book, or publish a book? Maybe it's something entirely not related to writing. Maybe the only thing you did this year was simply get through it, and if that's your answer that's perfectly okay too. (That was me last year.) Because you're here now. We're all here now. On the cusp of a brand new year full of exciting new chances and fresh opportunities.

So let's take a moment to come together and celebrate the personal victories and individual triumphs that came our way this year. Feel free to share what big milestones you reached, and what God has done in your life. Together, let's finish strong, and end the year well.

I'll keep mine brief: I pushed my novel rough draft almost to the 30,000 word mark. It languished on and off for five years of my life. I have never been as driven nor as obsessed as I am now, and I hold considerable hope within me that 2026 will be the year I see it through. I wanted to break 30,000 words before 2025 ended, but due to other (fun) plans today, I don't think writing will happen. And that's okay. Because it'll get there, even if it's not before the stroke of midnight. And because a big part of my writing journey is about forgiveness, growth, and learning not to hate myself for every word I write or don't write.

Now, it's your turn. Forget about the lows, if you can, and tell me about the highs. I'm ready, and I'm listening.

A wonderful testimony, @P.M. Turner! I know you've been working on that MS for a while, so getting it this close to completion is awesome! I'd love to read it when you're ready to share. ❤️

A lot has happened to me this year, both good and bad, some hard, some cutting to the core--some still hurting--but some have risen beyond my expectations. God has been there for me all this year, and I'm starting to see the good in the bad. I've learned what love truly is, and that I am capable of loving someone wholeheartedly and in the way I should. I've published my first book; it may or may not be good, that is to be seen, but I've accomplished something I've always aspired to. A relationship that has been strained and torn for so long is starting to be revived and healthy. And for the first time in years, I truly looked forward to the holidays and enjoyed them down to the bottom of my heart; for, for maybe ten years, the holidays were only a source of anxiety and depression for me. That was probably the biggest milestone this year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR'S, EVERYONE! 🎉

Keep writing! I hope you reach your goals this year @P.M. Turner. 🙂 It took me like eight years of world building and two years of writing to actually finish my first book, so you are getting there way faster than me. 😅

2025 has been a bit of a watershed year for me. Finished several big projects and am looking forward to a new chapter in my life. Learned a lot and God is helping me heal from some stuff in my past. I guess the big thing I learned this year is that pain matters and it's Okej that it hurts. The important thing is what I do with my wounds. God has been there for me in the midst and I am now thankful even for the pain. There are good things that I would have never understood without it, and perhaps I would not be where I am now.

Happy New Year All! 😃 Have some cheese! 🧀🧀🧀🧀🙂

Thank you so much, @H. E. Willis ! It's been (and continues to be) a long journey. When I have more of the earlier chapters written, I'm going to start posting them in the Critiques and Feedback forum here. I'm just waiting until I feel like I can keep up a steady pace in actually posting the chapters.

Developments in important relationships AND publishing a book? My deepest congratulations, that sounds like a very worthwhile year indeed! So glad you also had a beautiful holiday season as well; sounds like God is doing a lot in your life right now. And we know that what He does is good.

Happy New Year!

Wow, a first book ten years in the making! That's incredible, I would imagine the level of world building must be beyond belief. I'll bet it's amazing.

Congratulations, finishing big projects is one of the best feelings there is. Amen to your wise words about pain and God working through it to teach us things. Pain is never enjoyable or preferable, but it deepens the human experience in a way nothing else does. For us real humans, and our fictional characters, if I may say so. Wishing you all the best as you start a new chapter of your life.

Thank you for the cheese! I'm always down for some good cheese! 😂🧀

My disciple solidified his walk of obedience with the Lord, and started a Bible study on campus with seven teammates.
I am a source of prayer, ideas and doctrine for them. God is gracious and greatly forgiving.
Great testimony, thank you for sharing! Sounds like the Lord is using you to inspire and plant seeds in others. That's wonderful. Hoping this new year is one of continued growth. 🙏
