"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:"
~ 2 Timothy 4:7
As we prepare to bid farewell to 2025 and ring in 2026 tonight at midnight, I thought this might be a good time to pause and reflect on the year behind us. What did you accomplish, what did you achieve that you're most proud of? Did you start writing a book, finish writing a book, or publish a book? Maybe it's something entirely not related to writing. Maybe the only thing you did this year was simply get through it, and if that's your answer that's perfectly okay too. (That was me last year.) Because you're here now. We're all here now. On the cusp of a brand new year full of exciting new chances and fresh opportunities.
So let's take a moment to come together and celebrate the personal victories and individual triumphs that came our way this year. Feel free to share what big milestones you reached, and what God has done in your life. Together, let's finish strong, and end the year well.
I'll keep mine brief: I pushed my novel rough draft almost to the 30,000 word mark. It languished on and off for five years of my life. I have never been as driven nor as obsessed as I am now, and I hold considerable hope within me that 2026 will be the year I see it through. I wanted to break 30,000 words before 2025 ended, but due to other (fun) plans today, I don't think writing will happen. And that's okay. Because it'll get there, even if it's not before the stroke of midnight. And because a big part of my writing journey is about forgiveness, growth, and learning not to hate myself for every word I write or don't write.
Now, it's your turn. Forget about the lows, if you can, and tell me about the highs. I'm ready, and I'm listening.

It took me like eight years of world building and two years of writing to actually finish my first book, so you are getting there way faster than me.
Have some cheese!
