General Discussion Daylight squandering time

Nice to know so many people feel the same way I do about the loathsome practice of manipulating our clocks!

For years, I lived where “spring forward, fall back,” simply didn’t exist. I really miss that.

I'm the odd duck–this is my favorite time of year. I love warm area lighting, cold nights, snuggling under blankets on the couch, feeling cozy. I don't like bright lights anyway and I have indirect under-cabinet lights in my kitchen.

The Norwegians have a saying: "There is no bad weather, only bad clothes!" I'm a Northern boy and I have good clothes (and good lighting).

When it's snowy, at night, the ground is light and the sky is dark. It's the best.

I like this. It's a positive way of looking at things.

As far as changing the clocks goes, I have no opinion and very little advice to offer. I agree, the time changes are annoying, but I remember the last time they tried to eliminate 'em, and it was disastrous. Me personally, I didn't care; I was in college at the time, and my sleep schedule was already so insanely varied that I never noticed anything. But there were enough problems, e.g., lots of kids walking to school in the dark getting hit by cars & stuff, that a supposed 2 year experiment was yanked after about 6 months or so.

I'm sure they'll try it again, sometime...

I personally don't have strong feelings about losing OR gaining daylight, but the time change itself (and the ensuing schedule changes) is rather annoying, I think. The whole thing just seems pretty unnecessary to me.

Fall/Winter have always been my favorite time year. When I’m asked, “How’d you live as a millionaire?”, I quickly think I’d jet between Anchorage and Buenos Aires to keep things at a cool level.
