"For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you." Isaiah 54: 10 The word "covenant" is translated from the Hebrew word "b'riyth" meaning covenant, treaty, or alliance. It is used to define God's relationship with humankind. The basis of Yahweh's character was defined in the Old Testament by God's relationship with humans.

Ooo...covenant is one of my top favorite subjects in the Bible. Soooo interesting. When we dig into these things, there is so much we can learn and it pulls all things together to make sense. My current devotional is about one segment of covenant. 😃

I take that back. Covenant is my VERY FAVORITE topic! 😃

You know, Lynn, I've stopped getting your emails and I don't' know why.

Oh, my! I'll check on my end. Thank you for telling me.

I love preaching about covenant, especially the idea of covenant marriage between the two and God. The two saying to God as they commit to each other: "God, you will be the biggest part of our relationship together. You are the core of this relationship. There is no leaving, because you are the foundation and you are holding us together."

It's very impactful as a wedding ceremony and in marriage counseling: this is more than just a promise to each other to love each other; it is literally allowing God to put His authority on this marriage.

it is literally allowing God to put His authority on this marriage.
Yes! I was thinking just recently of how the marriage of two Christians is a value statement about the pleasure of God, an agreement with his will/authority. The ongoing marriage through all life's challenges is a sustained persuasion of each one of the two that God is pleased with their union.
