Last night, like I said in my earlier post, I attended a Christmas Dinner and Show, at the Church I attend on Sunday mornings. The dinner was very good, consisting of chicken, along with a good choice of vegetables, and desserts. I was surrounded by a lot of very friendly members of the Congregation. Being with them is usually pleasant.
Everyone liked what he or she had to eat, and I was careful not to stuff myself.
Then after the meal, a Show was put on. One person from each of the 18 tables went forward to the pulpit/stage, where they performed a revised version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas". This was the "Eighteen Days". Then each one told what expensive gift would be given by people at the table. That wasn't true. They were just playing.
What I've said about that song before is, "On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love said to me, 'I've just filed for bankruptcy.'"
What I'm thinking is that it would have been better, it the Church had presented a Living Nativity. That would have shown the baby Jesus (a doll baby), in a manger, with Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, Wise Men, Choir of Angels, and a brightly shining star. Along with one or more people singing "Oh Holy Night".
That's what we were there for. Why we were having a Christmas Dinner, and why we have a Church. If it wasn't for the Baby Jesus. We wouldn't have any of these things.
All praise and thanks to the Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen.
