Last night, like I said in my earlier post, I attended a Christmas Dinner and Show, at the Church I attend on Sunday mornings. The dinner was very good, consisting of chicken, along with a good choice of vegetables, and desserts. I was surrounded by a lot of very friendly members of the Congregation. Being with them is usually pleasant.
Everyone liked what he or she had to eat, and I was careful not to stuff myself.
Then after the meal, a Show was put on. One person from each of the 18 tables went forward to the pulpit/stage, where they performed a revised version of "The Twelve Days of Christmas". This was the "Eighteen Days". Then each one told what expensive gift would be given by people at the table. That wasn't true. They were just playing.
What I've said about that song before is, "On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love said to me, 'I've just filed for bankruptcy.'"
What I'm thinking is that it would have been better, it the Church had presented a Living Nativity. That would have shown the baby Jesus (a doll baby), in a manger, with Mary, Joseph, the Shepherds, Wise Men, Choir of Angels, and a brightly shining star. Along with one or more people singing "Oh Holy Night".
That's what we were there for. Why we were having a Christmas Dinner, and why we have a Church. If it wasn't for the Baby Jesus. We wouldn't have any of these things.
All praise and thanks to the Lord. In Jesus Name. Amen.

As the song is purported to be Christian based, I guess that's why they did it. It does seem a little odd though. I'm glad you enjoyed your time there. :)

Unlike the internet, the Church's leadership are people who I, and all members of the congregation can actually speak to, face to face. On Sunday I'll probably not be the only one making a request, that they consider having a Living Nativity next year.

My brother in Christ, William, I am glad that you got a chance to get out and enjoy an evening of dinner and fun with your friends.
It's been years (yes, years) that I have been able to enjoy an evening out with believers.
So many of those, whose company that I have enjoyed, have gone on to be with the Lord. I miss the very delicious dishes that lined the banquet tables and being able to go from table to table. I'm glad that I took sooo many photos, but looking at them would only make miss them more.
The next opportunity, that I get, I will enjoy every second of it no matter what the "fun" activity is!

This past Valentine's day, my brother took me to one of the seniors events at his church.
Yes, we had prayer and worship.

But the games were sooo much fun I have, completely, forgotten what the meal was!!😄
At the time, I was going through a difficult season. And, the Lord knew just where to send me to get my joy back!😄
I needed to be around people, in Christ, who enjoyed each other and didn't mind all the laughter that would come with participating in something "different."

While it's true that Valentine's Day is not a Christian "holiday", to celebrate love with clean fun, fellowship, and a delicious meal (chocolate treats were everywhere) !😋
It really did uplift my soul in so many ways. We all left the place... smiling!😄

So, I hope that when you reflect more on what you experienced, by being able to enjoy an evening of food and fun with other believers; that you may come to realize that being blessed to do so,
is one of the
MAIN reasons for there even being a baby in a manger. Amen?
Blessings 🌷🌷🌷
