New Years Day is Thursday. This year's Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year Celebrations will be ended. After that, it's just two and a half months of Winter cold. Does anyone know if there will be anything for us Christians to celebrate, before we reach Palm Sunday?

Actually, we are still in Christmas. It is the 12 days of Christmas. In some parts of the world, they don't celebrate Christmas Day until January.

Other than that, don't forget Valentines. Now that date has been sorely paganized and commercialized, but look into its Christian origins with Saint Valentine.

Immaculate conception, St Pat's, Ash Wednesday, Lent.
I like to search the history of these with children and adults that have not learned about them yet.

I'm not Catholic, so I tend to not be the hugest fan of those, especially the way they have been paganized and commercialized, but I think St. Patrick's Day has a cool story to go with it. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how historically accurate it is...
