    Goodreads for Beta Readers?

How are PDFs protected? MS Word and other word processors convert PDFs to their format. What keeps a beta reader from simply downloading the book, whether or not they print it? Files can be copied and shared. Or do you share the printed material with a beta reader instead of the file?

    Book cover.

True, but that's the first thing people see. If that attracts them, then they may look at the blurb. If it doesn't, they just put it back.

Payment for your writing - would you rather?

Would the story/novel/article/whatever be posted on the website or would it be more like advertised with a book cover and/or a sample of the writing?

Payment for your writing - would you rather?

So would traditional publishers consider that being published?

    Book cover.

My first thought was having a picture of each community (or something representing each community) with her between them. Not sure what could represent each one.

So how would this work? We would post the stories or resources here? How would other people (non-CWers) find them? Or would they have access to them?

So how does one know who to avoid?

General Discussion PLEASE READ. New way for crooks to steal your car!

I have other keys with my car key, so I don't use the fob at all. I lock it from the inside, but I make sure I have my keys in my hand, even if I have to dig them back out of my pocket, before I close the door. Now I have another reason to do that.

Prayer Request Prayers pls for my cat named Annabelle

Years ago, my older cat stopped eating. When I took her to the vet, he gave her what he called "poor man's dialysis." If I remember correctly, he injected liquid under the cat's skin, and then someone held him however long the vet determined to be helpful. Baghiera lived several more years...

General Discussion What message from Pope Francis do you think resonates most with today’s younger generation?

My white hairs can't speak for today's youth, so I'll let our younger members do that.

    A Stone on Palm Sunday

I hope this isn't too long. It's about 1,500 words, with some questions following. I hope to put it in my book, They Were Real People. Although, of course, a stone isn't a people. The actual quotes (in italics) are from the NIV. My story has them as footnotes, but they disappeared in the moving...

Just for Fun Friday Funnies - April 18, 2025 edition

I can certainly relate to the hiding the Easter eggs. And I don't have to wait an hour. If I walk out of the room and come back, I'll spend the next two hours looking for what I just held in my hand two minutes ago. Always put something in the place you first thought of. DON'T change your mind...

    General Discussion Mom's In Heaven

Your mother was in a win-win situation: if she continued to live, she enjoyed a caring group of people around her, related or not. If she passed on to glory, she's enjoying eternity with her Lord and Savior.

I may steal your title in something I write. Nothing specific right now, but I'm sure I will find a use for it. Thank you.

How should Christians approach difficult conversations in literature?

Just a word of caution. I would advise against inserting an opinion on a hot-button issue just for the sake of expressing your opinion. If you deliberately create a character so as to express your opinion, do not use a stereotype of that character. Understand who he/she is before you create...

    Fear of accidental plagiarism?

We do have a limited vocabulary. It's not tiny, but individual words are not copyrighted. If you're only talking about a few words that you may or may not have remembered from someone else's writing, IMHO, that's not plagiarism. So is it plagiarism if your character looks toward a clock and...
