God gave the Ten Commandments in Exodus 20, commanding the people to love the Lord and their fellow beings. Moses taught us to love the Lord with all our heart (Deut.6:5). Jesus taught the same (Matt.22:37), and you shall love your neighbor as yourself (Matt. 22:39). The 18th-century theologian, Emanuel Swedenborg, had a vision of life after death where he saw angels escorting a new arrival who had died into the spirit world. They had great love for the new arrival, taught him that he was very much alive and no longer needed a body, and did not leave him alone. These angels included family members. If we fail to learn to love God and others in this life, there will be no place for us in heaven. Love is essential if we want to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.
