Poetry TV

That electronic box,
that invades people's homes.
It can bring all the things,
the scriptures warn us not to dwell on.
Most of the time,
people check their brains at the door,
when they reach for the remote.
Any lessons of morality,
they might have learned during the day,
goes out the door,
when they hit that power button.
One channel selects profanity,
another, illicit fake love and its situations.
Yet, violence is spread all over these like frosting also.
Are the masses really that bored and complacent,
and pay no regard to the garbage,
that they are pumping into their brains.
Not everything on this box is bad,
I think the problem is,
is in the channel selection process,
where the heart condition dictates what is watched.
We have so many bad things in this world,
why do people need to focus on imaginary trash,
that is on this media as a form of entertainment.
Just in time,
it is,
before most lay down for bed,
hoping to receive a good night's sleep.
What are the masses doing to their own psyches?
Concentrate on the good channels on this box.
Look for trash on it,
and you will most definitely find it,
look for goodness on it,
and you will find that too!
The world most definitely needs Jesus more than ever!

The antenna to mine is in a drawer, somewhere. I'm an old television addict, so I know of what "thou speaketh". And, years ago, I, once, worked at one of the largest television stations in Minnesota. It was surreal to see, and talk to people that you're used to seeing and hearing "in that box." And, one of the "perks" of that job was to be allowed to watch television while I work.
But, I have learned, a long time ago, to not let it control me and distract me from fulfilling my calling. I can't tell you what the latest hit shows are, now, nor can I name a current "celebrity."
This is not to say that I don't enjoy something clean on my media device. I DO draw the line on what I allow before my eyes- whether it's promoted as a "Bible-based" entertainment or not! (And, I'm sure you ALL have experienced being "blindsided" by what was promoted as a "family friendly" film and found yourself exposed to nudity and lewdness for the sake of "artistic realism.")😑
Thank you, Marc, for giving us this poetic "heads up" so that we are better able to guard our minds as well as our hearts.
If our eyes are full of darkness.......

Blessings!🌷🌷🌷

Thank you, When, for your comment! I sure appreciate your thoughtful words! You are so right, some programs come at us as innocent only to reveal they have another agenda. Discernment is the key! Marc

Television is just another product by Satan to draw people away from truth and the worship of a holy God. There's nothing good about a box emitting radiation at a person and feeding false imagery.
