"Many writers are nihilists or at the least cynics. They deny that spiritual, moral and cultural truths exist. If you believe life is meaningless, what have you left to say as a writer? Nothing interesting. Nihilism is the philosophy of perpetual adolescence."

-- Dean Koontz

Maybe I've been hanging around christianwriters.com, but I think Mr. Koontz is kind of a cynic, too.:D

That's a particularly creative way to be scathing... Not that I'd disagree with the sentiment...

It would be interesting to know whether he disclosed that statement in print, or in public, 'cuz I'd have loved to be a fly on the wall, if he'd said it before an audience.

Not that it reflects positively on me, but I love a good food fight/train wreck/public brawl...

Even if you are an optimist, that light at the end of the tunnel may be an oncoming freight. (Perhaps why there are so few optimists left, these days? :D )

You sound like my boyfriend; one of his bucket list items is take part in a public fight 😆
Well now, here's a good example of where we always need a second set of eyes on our writing. What I meant to say was, I love watching a good food fight/train wreck/public brawl.

And for the record, I have no interest in taking part in a food fight or train wreck, either...

Ah, but according to the above quote you only negated two items. You didn't say you have no interest in taking part in a public brawl . . . 😉

I'm just joking around. 😅

Ah, me... Just as with the occasional "discussion" with My Lovely Wife, I can see I'm not going to win this...

And as in both cases, it all appears to be in good-natured fun, I can handle it...

I've found that much of life goes better when taken with a healthy sense of humor. Do I have one? (Nah! But at least I've found that one might be helpful. Baby steps first... We'll handle actual walking, later... :) ) I suppose you're helping out, somehow... :D

@Wes B Thank you for responding graciously to my teasing, and recognizing that it's all in fun. I assure you, I'm quite finished now. 🏳️

All I could think when I saw this was, "That right there is most definitely something Finn would say." 😃
