My brother in the Lord is suffering through a cancer situation with His wife, who has it, and has been in and out of the hospital. I know she is suffering, in pain, and it doesn't look like the diagnosis is good. He has asked for prayers, so I'm posting this here so we can all pray together for them. Thanks for your love and prayers for them in this desperate hour!

His Name is David Wilson, Hers is Monique

He Said she is having trouble eating, and holding it down, so this is the immediate concern. Thanks again

Praying. Will get my prayer team on it.
My sister has been through three times. Her fience has been through twice, just came through a no-hope situation. Both have been growing close to our Lord, and have found a church to attend. Others are watching their story. God gets the Glory!

JasonJ, I have a beloved uncle who is an elder in the Church of GOD In Christ. He, too, is battling cancer. He is 82 years old and has chosen to do hospice. Since his ordination, our family has depended on him to officiate at weddings, funerals, and godly counsel when family divisions threatened to tear us apart. My uncle was the one who led my father to Christ months before he died of cancer. By GOD's grace, he has been with our family through the holidays which is nothing short of a miracle for our family. When the Lord called me into ministry, my uncle became my spiritual teacher, father, and a consistent source of encouragement whenever I needed it. I have prayed for David and Monique. Please keep us updated.

As for CW being your "church away from church" - may I recommend the livestreaming service that I have been enjoying for years: Bethlehem Baptist Church of Minneapolis. John Piper is their Pastor Emeritus, now. But, when I lived in Minneapolis, he was their Preaching Pastor. In the many years, of my being in Christ, I have attended various congregations. But, I have found his sermons to have more "meat" than some of those that I have experienced. If you would like to listen to his latest sermons, you can go to their website, and select sermons by John Piper. I am sure that they will encourage you.

JasonJ, are David and Monique believers? Or, should we include prayers for salvation as well? 🙏

they are believers, thanks for asking! David and I have been friends since high school, I have never met Monique, but she is also a believer. They live on the east coast and I live in Dallas.

I will definetly check out the website, I am a fan of John Piper. he was a guest pastor at the church I used to attend here, and I have read a couple of His books. He is a great pastor and teacher. Thanks for letting me know about this web site. I have a couple of churches I regularly attend here where I live, but I have kind of a kooky work schedule that makes it hard for me to get to church on sunday's, so I do a lot of things online.

Again thank you for everything, and as always to God be the Glory!

JasonJ - Thank you for letting us know that David and Monique are believers. Therein is our hope that the Lord's amazing grace is with them and prayers will be answered in a way where His Name is exalted and our Father in Heaven will be glorified. Believe.
I am glad that you got a chance to experience John Piper in person. If I had to say anything about him, it would be that he not only loves expounding on GOD's Word, but that he, truly, treasures his relationship with the Lord. John Piper is VERY committed to helping the Body of Christ mature into strong, well-taught believers. Here is a link that you will find helpful for future references. You may want to share it with David and Monique. They may, also, enjoy John Piper's series on the Christ-centered marriage. I always recommend it to Christian couples no matter how long they have been married. Here's the link: desiringgod.org

Thank you for this, I love how John makes his books available online for free for anyone to read, I have actually posted this link previously here for others to find it. I read his book on Johnathen Edwards, which is deep and very insightful. Again, thank you!

You are more than welcome, JasonJ. One day, I may share just how I met John Piper. It was not in church and it was, definitely, something that I will never forget. He is a very, very humble man who just loves and enjoys all kinds of people. Blessings!

Praying for David and Monique, for all their families and friends, and for the medical staff working with them.

well I talked to David last night, he said they went to church, Laid hands on her, but she is now suffering thru extreme pain and the prognosis does not sound good. He said the enemy is in her mind bringing fear and anxiety, and he is upset about her condition and is crying out that what she is going thru is unfair. I have tried to offer consolation, but this is a difficult situation that I am having trouble finding the right words of comfort or encouragement.

I know that God is sovereign even in sickness and suffering, but this is not really a comforting thing for a heart that is afflicted. We know that Jesus is the life and the resurrection and this for me is strength, but I don't think it is for them at this point. So Pray for them and for me so that I may find the right words to encourage him and her.

One thing I was reflecting on last night after talking to Him is this. We are called to not love our lives in this world, and we should be willing to let everything of the world go for the sake of Christ. Paul said, to live is Christ and to die is gain! What a courageous thing to proclaim, and I have heard a few sermons one in particular that I remember vividly that made me shudder and think about those words. More and more I see Paul and his courage and his boldness as a model, and I think he should be our mentor if we really want to live for Christ. But again, none of this is helpful for David and Monique at this time of suffering. But I am trying to learn from this and trying to use what I am watching to prepare for my own trials and suffering that will surely come one day. Facing death and life without someone we love is very, very hard. It feels unfair, and it can break us down and I feel like this experience for many leads some to make shipwreck of their faith. I pray that will not be the case.

Absolutely still praying!
As I die daily, I live more eternity minded. I was ready at a age to see the Rapture take place — while things were good, not bad — much good, bad and ugly has happened since.
I do have the consolation that family, friends and neighbors have had the Gospel shared with them, with many believing; thus if one of us goes, others will keep up the work!
C.S. Lewis wrote the book The Problem With Pain. I physically have a high tolerence. I've grown to emotionally have a high tolerence. I believe my biggest test mentally is yet to come. God is faithful. This too shall pass.

at the age of 12 I was so convicned that Jesus was about to return, that I told my mom there was not reason to buy a house because we wouldn't need it! Like you I was ready at an early age, and like you , much good, bad, ugly, and worse has happened since. This verse keeps ploying in my head,

' And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing].'

Revelation 12:11 AMPC

This is a powerful verse, and it's ultimate place we are called to be as followers of the Lord. I have read several books by RC Sproul, and he says that this life in this world as a Christian is by the world's standards a 'throw away life'.

Unfortunately, this verse as powerful and true as it is, is not a verse of comfort for someone like my friend David and His wife I think, who are going through a very difficult season. But this verse should remind us of what we may face should things begin to turn against us in this country. Lord have mercy on us all!
