I know that New Year's Day Celebrations are completely secular. There are no Church connections. The Ball Drop at Midnight in New York's Time's Square, along with the tons of confetti, is the center of it all. There are other activities all over the Country and around the World, that millions of people attend. Many who don't attend, stay up 'til after midnight, to watch the event on TV.
I myself have never attended. I also go to sleep at my usual time. I figure that everything that's interesting, will be covered on the TV's Morning News.
One thing they covered, that I probably would have liked staying up for, happened a few years ago. It was the Actress Janet Jackson's "Wardrobe Malfunction".
I am certain, that would not have happened, if it was a Church Sponsored Event

Sometimes churches and youth groups will have church parties on New Year's that can be good times for Christian fellowship. I don't usually attend as I don't care to stay up that late. It reminds me of the Bible verse about "for men love darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil".

As for the day itself, I don't know that there's really anything Biblical about it since the whole calendar we use is pagan. Even the days of the week are named after pagan idols. In the Bible, the Jews were given their own New Year's celebration of sorts at the Passover.

Some churches (non-Roman Catholic.. lol) will do lock-ins with the youth, providing a safehaven.
Some churches will do an all night prayer service.
Some church groups will go out as 'guardian angels' for protecting people; or provide rides; or witness at an event.
Some churches celebrate all twelve days of Chirstmas with an event or outreach or visitations.

The events I've known of were kind of locked-in, if you want to call it that, since you're not allowed to come and go once it starts.
However, one of the official posted rules of the youth group was "remember, safety third"

Yup. Different lock-in. Lol
Their priorities on that were very evident too. I'm pretty sure they could make card games dangerous. One time they ran out of plastic spoons for the spoon game, so they used plastic knives. Miraculously, everyone still had all their fingers and toes at the end of the night.

In my neck of the woods, we played stretch with a knife and chicken with a dart, thowing the dart between the feet. I live to tell about it because when my brother's feet were tight to gether, I through the dart between them. Neither of us were chicken, and I still have good aim..

I'm not familiar with that game, but I think the youth group preferred taking games that were supposed to be safe and making them dangerous. Or coming up with games with terrible names.

Stretch is exiting first because you get to throw a knife. The idea is to stick it in the ground just far enough away from a person, who has to stretch and place one foot against it, then pick up the knife without falling. You work it both directions around them. Last one standing wins. Of course, you have to be able to throw a knife well enoght fir it to stay upright. Hmm.

Chicken is similar. Chicken can be done with a knife, but we chose a dart because everybody has a bad day. lol. The dart is thrown inside the outstretched legs and the player must move the closest foot to it. The better your aim for the middle the sooner most will have their feet close together and 'chicken-out' to move a foot to safety. My siblings and I could take a hit so we won often. Your youth group will love these, I'm sure..

Oh you mean something like, "you ain't no spring chicken".
I mean like, "murder in the dark". Sounds like the perfect church game right? I'm surprised the leaders didn't mandate a better name for it. But the name did kind of fit it...

You could do that with the modern darts that are weighted instead of pointed.

That would probably be banned though. The leaders have a little better since than that, lol. But I aged out anyway.
