I'm Not Dead, I'm Only Editing

Recommended Posts

I have not posted here lately, but I am not dead, just editing. First I stepped away for a week or two after the heavier editing got started. Then I had a family trip and time spent seeing to time consuming chores.(Looking for another car)

Chapter Editing is Hard Work. But I have enjoyed removing some unneeded filler words, shortening speech patterns, switching out some narrative for telling, and adding dialogue as needed. My story has much more speed and life than the rough draft.

But I enjoyed watching the KC Royals nearly sweep their way to a World Seriies win against the New York Mets. I have enjoyed watching car dealers squirm to make their divergent comments about a used car mesh up, and I love the game of negotiating. I have not bought yet, but love the process, but it is exhausting. I also made a trip with a family member to see a high level specialist in Nashville, TN for voicebox trouble. Nashville...they know their voices.

I am still looking for a non-critique, fellowship only, writing buddy who can tolerate action/adventure set in history. I do have one volunteer, a published author, who is going to look at one chapter where my protagonist relates to his love interest a great deal. She is going to check the female characters reponses to the protagonist.

So, getting away, and getting exhausted by other things, was good.
