Trying to find the author of this piece...

Recommended Posts

Hello! Years ago I was pretty active on this site. While going through the pieces that were asking for critiques, I came across this amazing work of poetry. I commented, and then saved it into a document on my computer for inspiration. I went looking for it, as it came to mind, and I realized that I never wrote down the author's name. :( I am hoping the author is still here, or at least someone who has also read it and might know who it is. I have searched online hoping that it was posted elsewhere but have not found it. And, I have no idea how to weed it out here, if it would even still be able to be found. Anyway, I want to post it, but want to give the author credit, because it is incredible. This is the poem:

The pen that hoards ten thousand words,
seeks only guiding hand
To spill it’s blood on virgin page,
like entrails in the sand
For thus the toil, at authors whim,
drives quill to strive for gain
That readers eye, or listening heart,
might understand the pain
The arteries of heartsblood splashed
upon those whitened fields
Bear wounds and scars of battles fought,
where wiser heart would yield
No truce sought, nor quarter begged,
the pen unlocks the word
That wielded in the skillful hand,
cuts cleaner than the sword
For wiser heads and stronger minds,
have yielded to the might
That bursts in fountains from the heart,
and bleeds with words of light.

So hoping someone can help! Thank you so much!

It's no longer listed on the site but I'll check with Keith and let you know as soon as I hear from him. Was there something you were going to do with it?

Hi Lynn! Thank you! That name sounds right. I think that's him! I appreciate you checking!

Yes, I really only wanted to post it with my writing quotes on Instagram, but I didn't want to if I couldn't give him credit for it, at least. I also, hoped to get his permission to do so if I was able to find him. I love this piece and have always felt it should be shared! Thank you so much for your help!

Yes, I am well! I hope you are too! :) I took a little time off writing, but yes, I have been exploding with words! Especially within this past year. You, too I hope?

Have slowed down. Closed my site. It became too stressful with my fibromyalgia. So I now write a weekly newsletter. And occasionally submit to anthologies. :D

I can't imagine how difficult that would be. And, I am sure, the stress didn't help your fibromyalgia. Kind of a vicious cycle, each exacerbating the other. Has it been better since you have slowed down? I am glad you are still writing, though. I always enjoyed reading your posts/submissions. :) Where do you post your newsletter? Is it online or something you send out?

Awww, so sweet of you!

Yes, it was difficult but I felt like the Lord was nudging me to decrease the stress. Well, since March, it's been rather rocky. Daily terrible headaches. Not sure if it's allergies or what. But am feeling somewhat better as fall sets in. Summer and I don't get along at all. Thanks so much for asking. 🧡

It's just something I send out. It's called Letters from the Couch. ;)Here's a link to the current one. A new one goes up tomorrow. (I don't always post a signup link with each post, so there's not one there on this post.)

Oh, and I do daily graphic on Facebook. I opened an account on IG and posted once. But someone didn't like my Christian post because someone got in and changed my email address and I could no longer get in. I asked numerous times for help but they only help out the biggies! I started to open another account but didn't feel like trying to keep up with it after all. o_O:(

Not trying to interrupt this conversation, but her current one is a good one, as I knew it would be. (I just signed up a couple days ago.)

Well, I heard back from Keith already. And he said it's not his. I can't remember who else wrote poetry back then. I'm so sorry it wasn't Keith. I'll try to do a little more snooping around. ;)

Maybe could be stress in combo with that, too... seems like March was the kick off for a really rough spring/summer, in more ways than one. I am glad that you are starting to feel some better. I will be praying that each day is easier! God is a miracle worker!

Thank you for the link! I will enjoy reading it thoroughly! And, I would definitely like to sign up!

Yes. I have an IG account, mostly for photography, but I have heard things from others along those lines. And, you are right... unless you are "important" (to them), it doesn't really matter.

Thank you for checking with Keith and for looking into this for me! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it! It looks like Carolina has found him! Thankfully, her researching skills are better than mine! Lol! I guess it seems it was a Wallace/Wallis that wrote it though, after all. :D

Pleased to meet you. I hope you will stick around.

Thank you Carolina! It is nice to meet you, too! I do hope to be around here more again. It has been nice to see I still have old friends on here! :)

And, thank you a million times for finding the author of the poem! I don't know why my search turned up nothing. I am thinking I need to brush up on my researching skills! Haha! :D
