critique & feedback If You Picked Up a Free Copy of My Book...

Recommended Posts

Hi!

If anyone of you picked up a free copy of my ebook, Memory Lane Was Moved, while I had the five day promo, I would encourage you to let me know if you found any spelling/grammatical errors. This would be a big help to me as I want to make my ebook available as an actual book but would like to make sure it doesn't have any mistakes.

Just letting you all know that I am aware that the book has several fragment sentences. However, I did this on purpose as it is a style of writing that the late Andrew Clements incorporated into his middle school novels (by the way, shortly before he passed, I sent him an earlier draft of my first chapter, and he sent back some positive feedback. I am trying to sort of carry on some of his legacy through writing books that are in some ways similar to his). Also, there were a few edits I had to make in my ebook after the promo that haven't seemed to update on the version that was free. However, I will let you know if I had already fixed an edit you found.

Hope that wasn't too confusing! Thank you in advance!

Sorry that this isn't exactly responding to your message, but I didn't know Andrew Clements died!! Now I'm so sad! But I love that you are trying to carry on some of his style, and that makes me want to read your books. I hate reading on the screen, especially as a busy mom, having actual paper is easiest, but knowing this information bumps your book up to one that I might actually get electronically. Also, that's awesome that he responded to you, what a blessing!

@JosiAtara I know! It was shocking to find out he was dead. I found out several months after it happened because my sister told me. Thank you so much for the encouraging words! Do you and/or your kids read Andrew Clements books?

My husband listens to Clements' audio books all the time and that got me hooked. We recently got our 8-year-old started with listening too--she is still learning to read, but loves to listen. I think my favorites are Frindle and No Talking.

I have to say, your book was quite well-edited. I only remember a typo or two in the entire thing! Unfortunately, I don’t recall exactly where they are...

@Zee That's okay, Zee! I had my sister edit it (after I did). I also had a beta reader, and then my other sister helped a little. I found a typo recently, but when I looked for it again, I couldn't find it! 😬
