Do You End Your Stories Well?

Recommended Posts

When I do get to end my stories people like them.  Sadly I have a bit of 'new project' syndrome.  It's a bit of a pain.  I like to end on powerful lines that encourage the reader to think through the whole project.  That's certainly an easier thing to do with shorter stories.

I usually get three good scenes as part of the overall concept, beginning, big turn/climax, and ending. That's in large part because of how conscious I am of the theme of the story from the very start.

That said, all three of those change with the actual writing.

I usually have my 1st and last scene done before I write the rest.

However,  the end scene is actually the deouncment scene. So my real ending is normally just afterwards. For example I post a scene where a character die amd went to heaven where they were reunited with thei loved ones.  That didn't make it into the book because it was the wrong last end scene.
