Book Sales/Marketing During COVID-19

I think we're all retrying things to see if anything has changed. I'm tempted to start an Amazon Advertising campaign myself. Tempted...trying...to...resist... 😵

That's funny, I was just looking at an Amazon campaign, but I stopped myself and backed away slowly... 😅

I haven't tried a Kobo promotion before. I may look into that next week.

Well, after my second promo event, I sold only one book. My take away is that while it's easy to think people would have more time to read, they aren't really buying books.

Why?  I think two reasons.

First - people's attention are fixed on the situation. Coping and making sure they (and loved ones) stay safe is the order of the day.

Second - to use an old political saying: "It's the economy, stupid." Many have been put out of work, and many more are likely flirting with unemployment. Book purchases are not a priority right now.

I also ran across this article: Do This Not That: Book Promotion During a Pandemic.

STOP SELLING AND PROMOTING

I've reached the same conclusion. Perhaps it's time to focus on writing?

I've had the same results and come to pretty much the same conclusion. Even the people who still have disposable cash are hesitant to spend it. I had been planning to get my next book out in June, but I'm now thinking I should push that to August or September.
