Urgent prayer for VA

Recommended Posts

Did you guys hear about the bills they're trying to pass in Virginia?

House Bills 1663, 1049, and Senate bill 868 would infringe on the religious beliefs of churchs and Christian schools by mandating who may be employed by or attend these establishments. These bills could prohibit sex-segregated facilities like separate bathrooms/locker rooms, separate male/female dress codes, and even remove the ability to establish admissions/employment requirements related to statements of faith and biblical lifestyle on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity, or even marital status. Additionally, the legislation includes measures aimed at pressuring positions and practices through hefty fines ($50,000 first offense, $100,000 second offense) that would destroy financially if they do not observe the government's definition of sexuality.

They vote on Wednesday.

If you're in VA, we stand with you! Make your voice heard by contacting your reps!

The rest of us need to pray hard!

It seems VA has been struggling lately with sanity. I will be praying too.

Aye, but if it happens there, it can happen anywhere.

All it takes is one to start. I am in MD and I believe they would pass this too. 😟

I am a committed Christian.  I might even be called devout.  Most Christians I know are all very concerned with the way things are going in this Country.   One basic problem is that here in the United States of America, we've never had to deal with official, government sponsored anti-Christian religious persecution before, and we have no idea how to handle it.

I suggest that we look in the Bible and see what God's Word has to say about it.  I think the following passage may be helpful:

"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.  Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

"And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.   Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should."

 (Ephesians 6:  10-20)

I suggest that we also pray that we totally unprepared American Christians will not find ourselves in the same situation as the Apostle Paul, when he wrote those words.

I ask this in Jesus Name.  Amen.

We lost sanity in MA a long, long time ago. Now we have the likes of Elizabeth Warren as our Senator! And remember John Kerry? Ted Kennedy? Sorry about that, America.

I will be in prayer for VA.

I just now saw this. I am concerned about laws lik this one. If they are passed, our nation will become a people that will have to accept anything the goerning powers would tell us.  We truly have to pray that all this craziness will end.

The Bible is illegal in many countries around the world. We've been blessed here for a long time, but times have been changing for quite some time. Even in Canada and some other countries, certain parts of the Bible are labeled hate speech and are illegal to preach upon (even from the pulpit inside the church!)  Regardless of the law, here or there, God's church will stand tall and unscathed through time. I pray this legislation won't pass, and I hope for a revival of our nation and a renewal of morals. It's happened in the past, and it can happen again. I just pray it is God's will that it is so.
