Shamrock 528 Posted October 17 I have a novel which has been through several drafts. The previous draft to the present one was critiqued via a literacy consultancy. The present draft is a revision based upon the report (nothing major just some structural tweaks and deeper characterization of a main character). It still needs to proof-read but this will be the final stage but it has been edited. The novel is set in Tennessee, USA and York, England. It tells the story of two young people who experience major traumas in their late teens and their journey of reclaiming their faith and finding love by overcoming the 'demon's that besieges them in adulthood. The word count is about 85K at present. It is the 1st of a two part series and is set in 80 & 90s. I would be willing to Beta read in exchanged. Rasman76 38 Posted November 7 That sounds interesting. I'd be willing to read it and give you feedback on it. I'd be happy to sign any confidentiality agreements or anything like that - just let me know. I've been looking for beta readers for my young adult fantasy novel as well if you're interested. BKHunter 162 Posted December 7 Hi, I'd be interested in reading it and have some familiarity with both Tennessee and England (although not York), as well. If you'd like, you could beta read the entirety of my novel, Under the Crescent Moon, in exchange. It's about 55k words at the moment.
Shamrock 528 Posted December 7 Thanks BK. I posted this request a while ago and have progressed with the work. It has been fully critiqued both here on this site and by a professional editor/reader. So, I think I am at that stage where I need to see what the feedback is from agents/publisher. Obviously if it bombs, then I will re-think things. Thanks for the offer. I have enjoyed reading your work and will continue to critique what you post but I am probably not the best person to do a full assessment as I am fairly new to critiquing people's work I am sure others on the site would be willing to do so - maybe Zee, Alley or Suspensewriter? Zee 448 Posted Monday at 03:18 PM Pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference between "beta" reading someone's work and critiquing it on the Forum?

Hey Zee, Generally, beta readers get the whole book at one time to offer feedback for - whereas in the forums due to guidelines you can only really post a chapter or two at a time - at least that's my understanding of it. I think it's easier to get an idea of what an author is trying to do if you get it all in once piece vs. piece meal.
Zee 448 Posted Monday at 06:26 PM OK, that makes sense.
suspensewriter 2,862 Posted Wednesday at 04:45 AM I was just about to offer my help, when I noticed you already had it covered. Best of luck, Shamrock!
