How to Write a Book (According to Jerry Jenkins)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Probably already know this stuff, but it's good to hear again. Had me by the end, "Drat! I need to start the next book." BTW I've heard Dallas Jenkins speak, he talks almost exactly like Jerry. Not that that's strange at all.

Well, not according to my police department. They tend to frown on people typing on their laptops while driving. Go figure. :D

Actually, I found this to be well grounded, sage advice. Straight forward and free of gimmicks. Thanks for sharing.

I'm trying to figure out how to get my laptop on my lap while I'm driving. It certainly won't fit on the steering wheel! And it's really awkward putting it on the passenger seat. (I've done that while I'm parked, and it just doesn't work.)

Isn't that against the law? (or maybe they haven't come up yet with a law against it. Because they haven't seen it?)

*pulls over when officer flags me down and says, "sorry, was typing while driving."*

*looks at me like I'm nuts*

(not really)

So you can type, but since you can't edit what you're typing because you can't see it, at least you haven't broken the rule about editing while working on the first (rough) draft!!!

But if you're typing and it isn't recorded, how do you know later what you wrote down?

I have a HUD (Heads Up Display) in my windshield. Similar to this, except I reprogrammed it so it doesn't display all that pesky driving information.

Sort of makes it hard to see things like pedestrians, but I'm writing more. o_O

Just so you can see the black and white cars.
