Favorite Music for Creativity?

Recommended Posts

One of the ways the Lord reaches me is through music, especially epic orchestra, and listening to my tunes helps me visualize characters and scenes much more easily and in better detail. Right now, I'm collecting/listening to music from Final Fantasy XV by composers Yoko Shimomura, John R. Graham, Nobuo Uematsu, and others. What music do you all enjoy while creating?

And if you like to listen to the rain, I suggest rainymood!

CM, since you're new, you missed that we recently had a thread on this. You can check out the answers here if you like. I usually have on Pandora on Roku. I normally listen to soft music. Piano Guys is often in there. When I am really concentrating, I turn the music off. I write devotionals and inspirational stories, so only soft music, or none at all, is helpful. :)

If you feel epic orchestra is a good tool the Lord uses for you, check out Trans Siberian Orchestra!

My dad and my old band director love this group, but I've never listened to it. I'll have to give them a shot one day.

I absolutely LOVE ambient music, especially stuff like fantasy, Celtic, and Japanese tunes. They always make me feel like my soul is dancing for and with the Lord. And listening to rain with thunder, or just rain, is one of my favorite things to do, too, especially here in Texas.

Piano Guys!!!:D

I've never listened to them. Do they just do piano, or are there other instruments too? I don't particularly like to listen to piano on its own very much.

Whoops, sorry! I'll have to look more carefully through the forum from now on. I never really got into Pandora much; they don't have a lot of the music I enjoy from what I understand. And, yeah, music can be distracting sometimes, so sometimes softer and more ambient stuff is better for me.

Pandora only plays what you set up to play. You make your own stations. I have several types of music (stations) there. You start with an artist's name you like and set the station. Pandora will then play songs of similar artist's and you chose whether you like that song and want it to play or not. Stations can be of any type of music. Love my Pandora! :D

No. It's a piano and cello, orchestra too, sometimes.

I listen to whatever genre suits the setting. I finished novelizing the story of Joseph in Genesis a while back and spent a lot of time with a video game soundtrack called "Assassin's Creed: Origins". Never played it, but it's set in Egypt so it put me in the right mood!

I like Bagrock myself.  I have a channel on Amazon music set up for that,  The Red Hot Chili Pipers is my favorite of the Bagrock groups.

No music or TV for me -- too distracting.

Most of the time, I tend to agree; but there can be exceptions, especially if the tune is soft and uplifting.

If you want to hear something relaxing, check out "Kiss the Rain" by the Korean composer Yiruma; that song is so beautiful it makes my heart hurt! Seriously, it makes me cry. 😭😭

Just checked it out -- it's nice. I think the lyrics in most songs are what distract me.

Yeah, I agree; sometimes I can't really be watching a movie and write at the same time either; that can be waaaaayyyyyy too distracting!! :)
