Once, again, I have found myself being tested in my faith. And, once again, I have to make sure that I STILL have BOTH feet planted on the "SOLID ROCK" that I have come to rely on for ALL of my walk as a follower of Jesus Christ: HIS SPOKEN WORDS.

It was so surreal. Before I received "the news", I had just finished photographing a rainbow that had appeared after a hard rain. Coincidence? I think not. For a few minutes, and I do mean "a few", I was a little shaken because I am not "Super-saint". I am just an old woman trying to finish her race strong in the faith. Immediately, after that, I called one of my prayer warrior friends. Together we took it to the "throne of grace"and laid it at the feet of King Jesus. The results? Last night: I slept like a top! I knew in my "heart of hearts" that He had already granted us our petition. And, the most loving, GOD-glorifying outcome was ALREADY in place....as He said it would be.

I woke up to another day of "promises kept" by the One Who loves me most! The King of ALL Kings has granted me my petition to have that "peace that surpasses all understanding." Why? We are chosen, elected, and beloved children of the GREATEST FATHER OF ALL! HE IS THE ULTIMATE "PROMISE-KEEPER." Amen?

When Jesus was addressing the concerns of the "common" people - concerns regarding where they would get food or clothing- He was telling them what His Father told Him to. That as long as you are able to address Almighty God your "Abba" Father: your needs will be met.....faithfully....generously. Those who cannot should not have such expectations. For the unregenerated, theirs is a life of hardship without hope. They are without His covenant of care. He does, however, dispense mercy as He wills to whomever He will. He does all that pleases Him. Being merciful gives Him pleasure.

BE ENCOURAGED, FAMILY OF THE MOST HIGH GOD
Some of you, who can be called "elder", like me, may be having concerns about what is happening with our government in regards to the "debt ceiling." The outcome, whether the vote is "YEA OR NAY", would not only affect the aged but the disable and those that care for them. The "ripple effect" would be felt by every citizen, so every generation should "brace for impact". Amen?
For some, they are already experiencing hardships that they may never recover from. And, now, they are waiting to see if the chewing gum will hold in their leaking canoe.....or not.

So, the question of the day:what IS the BEST course of action for followers of Christ to take during these "uncertain" times? Answer: What has ALWAYS been the BEST course of action: PRAY WITHOUT CEASING! The prayers of the righteous STILL avails much....GRACE. Amen?

The KING OF ALL KINGS has not left His flock even though it IS scattered all over the earth. AND, until the GOOD SHEPHERD gathers us all up unto Himself and takes us out, we must seek His guidance all the more as trials and tribulations increase...not just for ourselves but intercede for all that are in need of His mercy....the unsaved as well as the saved.
He STILL has His ear inclined to us because our enemy is relentless...and VERY cruel. We must NEVER, for one moment, believe that we can do battle without our Lord's help. WE NEED HIM. WE ARE HIS SERVANTS. HE WILL HELP US AS HE SAID THAT HE WOULD!

FORGET THE OLD AND EMBRACE THE NEW
Years ago, the Christian "mantra"was -"What would Jesus do?" It was concocted to try and inspire the younger generation, at that time, to take time to reflect on the biblical responses of Christ, in various situations, and apply that to theirs rather than what was "popular" culture. It took off like wildfire. But, the sad truth about "fires" of trends is that, inevitably, they burn out.

Instead of becoming a mainstay mindset, "What would Jesus do?" inspired christian items, now, share shelves in thriftstores and/or garage sell tables. You can find them with the "Keep on truckin' "posters next to that annoying, novelty fake bass singing "Don't worry. Be happy."

Beloved,Forever Family, let me admonish you to NOT make "What did Jesus say?" into some sort of "self-help" pep talk mantra as others may be prone to do. Instead, let the words of our Lord fan flames of trust in your hearts that will NEVER burn out! Review them in your prayer closet and/or write them on little notes and place them where you can see them....OFTEN! Our Lord, in obedience to His Father, spoke them so that in the last days...thousands of years after they left His lips....we would have them to strengthen us in the last miles of our race. Amen?

HIS WORDS CONTAIN ETERNAL LIFE AND WILL NOT PERISH EVEN IF THE HEAVENS SHOULD FALL AND THE EARTH SHOULD CRUMBLE! AMEN!!!!

HERE ARE SOME SCRIPTURES CONTAINING SPOKEN WORDS OF JESUS THAT MAY HELP BE OF ENCOURAGEMENT TO YOU AS THEY HAVE BEEN TO ME:

JOHN 10:11 - 14, 28 -30

MATTHEW 6:25 -34

MATTHEW 7:24 -27

MATTHEW 7:7-11

JOHN 16:32 -33

JOHN 16:23 -24

MATTHEW 28:18 -20

LET HIS WORDS BE THE SOLID ROCK WHERE YOU, TOO, PLANT YOUR FEET AND KNOW THAT NO MATTER WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU OR WITH THE GOVERNMENT -YOU WILL ALWAYS BE A RECIPIENT OF GOD'S COVENANT CARE! AMEN!

BLESSINGS!

I was recently reminded at church that we should pray God's promises. It's highly effective to not only know what to pray but to encourage us in a powerful way. I'm glad that I read through the verses and prayed them.

Thanks for reminding us.

By the way, @Whendancer64 , I think the threat to social security via not raising the debt ceiling is a common threat that's meant to pressure lawmakers more than any actual threat to social security, military payments, or other government spending that's all at risk. The overriding point for us is that God knows how to keep us in any circumstance, so relying on Him as our chief source is the best way. But, if it disturbs you to think about the antics of the World when they could directly affect you, be reassured about this particular situation. There's no *particular* threat against social security, even though they've been using it as a bargaining chip concerning the debt ceiling.

Whatever the details, even if I don't know what I'm talking about, we still need not fear, because God knows all the details, and He still loves us anyways.. ;^D

Thank you Whendancer64. What a beautiful post to encourage the heart.

Your comment about the phrase “What would Jesus do?” is spot-on. Many years ago (while at work) a young believer (newly hired) walked around witnessing to everyone about “what would Jesus do?” Of course, I was polite and listened to what she had to say every day of the work week. After a few months, she became a nuisance to the entire department, a liability to everyone trying to do their job. After multiple warnings, she was fired, having done exactly what Jesus would have never done; that is, if Jesus were an employee hired to work, he would have done his job and not walk around preventing others from doing theirs. I know her heart was in the right place, but her wisdom was profoundly lacking. Though she was hoping to be a good witness for Jesus, she did the opposite of what Jesus would do.
Blessings to you!

Of course, I was polite and listened
After multiple warnings, she was fired
Though she was hoping to be a good witness for Jesus, she did the opposite of what Jesus would do.

What a sad account. Didn't she understand the warning? From the World, harsh politeness probably set her to redouble her effort, because it would likely have been perceived as the challenge from the World that such a thing no doubt is. From a sibling in Christ, information could have possibly (I don't know this situation, but for the sake of the general statement: ) been given to turn her mind to a new perspective altogether that says her will to push isn't as good as the information, itself, with to a request to God to help; now, she could have been asked, what is her duty, to make herself feel vindicated by her constant pressuring, or is her duty to be a witness in all ways, together (both with the information, given the first time, and with her attitude / lack of willfulness)?

Warnings aren't always of the same quality. Let all Christians push a little now to overturn the rampant problem of having zeal without knowledge (and, for some of us, the problem of zealously hiding our knowledge).

Months went by?! What confusion!

I once heard that "WWJD" is tied into "In His Steps" by Charles Sheldon, who had a heart for the people and pushed general charity as an answer to that question. Whatever his intent, that charity has all but replaced salvation doctrine in most churches (in my experience). I think that the gospel is (rightly) perceived as insulting, and insults, even of the gospel, are (wrongly) perceived as unloving and uncharitable...

It's a strange, strange problem that twists real love into hatred of God's purpose, and it's very, very dangerous for both the future sibling still in the World who would someday benefit from the real gospel and for us who never, ever tell it but replace it with our surface-level politenesses which we have learned from the World (gentleness and kindness are a bit different from that politeness; they speak!).

It's been noted that "In His Steps" is the working-man's version of Walter Rauschenbusch's re-imagining of the gospel, which he floated in the world of academia (and it was filthy, vile stuff, which we're seeing the outcome of today in the general attack on all societal structures, along with the perversion of Christ's purpose in His Gospel). They each turn the spiritual gospel into a mundane thing.

The perversions of such wonderful things can be brought back to center-line and should always be tempered with the whole counsel of God.

Thanks, WD, for this excellent reminder of God's truth. Indeed, praying without ceasing, applying God's words, abiding in Christ, and acting on the Holy Spirit's direction is my only hope in a world with ungodly governments—a blessing to you.

WD: I appreciate your message. I belong to a church that has an evangelical history. Before that, I was a part of a church that very definitely was evangelical. I have copied down the scriptures so that I can study them. Thank you for including them. God will guide us through these upcoming days. Peace and blessings on you and yours.
