I am the Lord who brought you up out of Egypt to be your God; therefore be holy, because I am holy. (Leviticus 11:45 - NIV 1984)
When the Almighty “I Am” freed the Hebrews from the clutches of pagan Egypt, He insisted (as the Lord reminded Moses and Aaron) that He did it to be, in His character and actions, their God. All with the expectation that, in the process of God intervening for and being with them, the Israelites would acknowledge, believe, and obey Him. They would do this by separating themselves in their hearts and minds to living for God. That is, being “holy”.
Let us each ask ourselves: “Does my lifestyle reflect a commitment to God? As God ‘Is’, do I yield to His direct revelation and subsequent leading, given to me as a free gift, because He has freed me by the blood of His Son to be my God?”
