The best way to honor the celebration of Christmas is to contemplate the reality of the fulfillment of ancient prophecy. In the history of Gods people as recorded in the Old Testament, the focal point of prophets and dreamers, hopeful leaders and humble servants, was the promise. God spoke this promise to Adam and Eve in the garden as they realized the fruit of their rebellion was death and darkness and separation from the true source of love and life.
Jesus fulfilled this promise as the Messiah, in Hebrew Jeshua Hamashiach. We celebrate because the fulfillment brings us the affirmation of truth, hope, and life.
The prophecies given in the Old Testament are recorded as fulfilled in the New Testament. The Bible is like the two sides of a coin, one side part of the other. The Old Testament predicts the coming of the Messiah, the New Testament confirms the fulfillment of these predictions.
The odds of any one person fulfilling prophecy in this manner is described in a quote from the blog ” Y-Jesus.”
“Bible scholars tell us that nearly 300 references to 61 specific prophecies of the Messiah were fulfilled by Jesus Christ. The odds against one person fulfilling that many prophecies would be beyond all mathematical possibility. It could never happen, no matter how much time was allotted.”
The following prophecies are but a few of the many given in scripture.
Jeshua Hamashiach would be;
The seed of a woman
Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

The descendant of Abraham
Genesis 12: 1-3 “Then the Lord said to Abraham…..I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you, all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
The descendant of David
2 Samuel 7: 12-16 “When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever."
Matthew 1:1 "The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham."
The star coming out of Jacob
Numbers 24:17 “I see him, but not now; I behold him, but not near: a star shall come out of Jacob, and a scepter shall rise out of Israel; it shall crush the forehead of Moab and break down all the sons of Sheth."
From the tribe of Judah
Genesis 49:10 "The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be."
Luke 3:34 “the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor,”
Luke 3:23-33 “Now Jesus Himself began His ministry at about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, the son of Heli, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Janna, the son of Joseph…the son of Amminadab, the son of Ram, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah,”

Luke 4:16-19 “He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
from Isaiah 61: 18-19

Matthew 1:23 “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”

Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Psalm 16: 8-11 “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices; my flesh also dwells secure. For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol, or let your holy one see corruption.”

Waiting for Fulfillment
1 Thessalonians 4:16 -18 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
Revelation 1:7 “Behold, He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him–even those who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. So shall it be! Amen.”
Revelation 21: "Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty, I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life."
Come, Lord Jesus, Jeshua Hamashiach Come!
