Changing Water into Wine
I thank God the Father and the Lord Jesus for allowing me to recognize that I am a sinner rather than a saint.
The scripture I will explain is in John the 2nd chapter and the 9th verse. In the 9th verse it says, When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom.
This miracle Jesus performed was the first miracle of His ministry. Most of the miracles Jesus performed were designed to influence people to believe that He was the Son of God. There were a few miracles that had a spiritual meaning, which was the reason why they were performed, but most of the miracles Jesus performed were designed to influence people to believe that He was the Son of God. Everything the Father had Jesus to do; it wasn’t done for nothing. There was always a reason why the Father had Jesus to do all the things He did.
Jesus was a man who was admired by everyone. Jesus came from a worldly family that didn’t have anything. Matter of fact, the family that Jesus was raised in was a poor family because remember what Jesus was place in after His birth, which was a manger and a manger is a trough in a barn from which horses or cattle eat. After the birth of Jesus, Jesus was placed in a manger, which was inside a barn, so Jesus nursery environment was a barn rather than a house.
People, who lived that way during the time of Jesus and even today, are poor people and Joseph and Mary were the poor people of God. Joseph and Mary were the people of God who were considered as poor. During the time of Jesus and even today, there were poor people of God and there were rich people of God. Many of the regular people of God were poor and the people of God who had a certain position in the Jewish belief were people who were either rich or middle class. Most of those kinds of people were Jewish leaders and if they were not Jewish leaders they had a very close connection with the Jewish leaders, which gave them a financial advancement. So the people of God who were very close to the Jewish leaders, they had favor among those who either were rich or of the middle class. The same financial situation that went on in the Jewish belief is the same financial situation that goes on in the church today.
The people in the church today who have something financially are the preachers and the people who are close to the preachers. Most of the people who are under them are people who are either poor or close to poor. The poor people in the church today and during the time of Jesus were people who were ignored by the people who had something financially.
During the time of Jesus, the people who had something financially, they would ignore and pay no attention to the people who were considered as poor. The reason why Jesus, Joseph and Mary weren’t ignored by the people who had something financially was because of the things that Jesus was able to do during the time that He was on this earth up until this point of the scripture. The miracle that Jesus performed at the wedding was His first miracle, but He had done many amazing things in front of people before He was given power from the Holy Spirit to perform miracles. People have always admired and have always showed a person favor when they have something special that others don’t have. Abraham for an example, had favor from everyone in the land of Canaan who knew him. For that reason, Abraham could get anything free he wanted from anyone in the land of Canaan during his time. People always gave things to Abraham for free. That was the way it was for Jesus, Joseph and Mary during this time in Jesus life.
The wedding that they all were invited to was a wedding of a group of people who had something financially because a wedding back during the time of Jesus and even a wedding today were there are a large number of people who are invited; the people who are getting married they come from a family who had something financially because the family were the people who paid for the wedding just like families do today for a wedding and the family members who pay for the wedding is most likely the parents and the was the family members who paid for a wedding back during the time of Jesus. Back during the time of Jesus and even today, the people who are invited to a wedding of people who have something financially are people who have something financially as well. A wedding environment of the sore don’t have people who are poor as guest. Matter of fact, people who are poor are people who wouldn’t be invited or welcome to that kind of wedding event.
Jesus, Joseph and Mary were the only poor people who were actual guest of the wedding. So Jesus, Joseph and Mary were people who were not only invited to the wedding, but they were invited as the friends of the people who were getting married and their immediate family as well. Like I said, Jesus, Joseph and Mary were invited because of the favoritism and respect Jesus received from the other people because of the amazing things He did in front of people before He had introduced Himself as the Son of God. If Jesus didn’t do anything amazing before He had introduced Himself as the Son of God, than Mary wouldn’t have approached Jesus the way she did when the people had ran out of wine. Mary had approached Jesus as though she had complete control of Jesus and no one would approach another person like that if there wasn’t something special about the person that other people knew about. Is just like if a parent has a kid that has a special talent and they want some kind of control over their kid so they can look good in front of those who are familiar with the kid. That the reason why Mary approached Jesus the way she did about the lack of wine.
Jesus as we know accepted the invitation. As Jesus was there at the wedding, He performed His first miracle, but this miracle had a spiritual meaning to it, which was the reason why Jesus performed the miracle in the first place. The miracle wasn’t designed to influence the people who were at the wedding to believe that Jesus was the Son of God. The miracle was design to make a point to the people who were at the wedding. The point was completely related to the relationship between poor people and rich people. In an event, like a wedding or in any event where there are a large number of people gathered together for a certain celebration; water is the beverage that many people at an event will ignore and don’t have an interest in. People will have the desire for other beverages before they have a desire for water. Some events don’t offer water to the people because they know that water is the last thing that people will drink at an event of celebration.
Because water is one of the beverages that people will ignore and won’t have an interest in at a special event like a wedding that was the reason why there wasn’t any water at the wedding event that Jesus, Joseph and Mary were invited to. That was the reason why Jesus told the servants to fill the six water jars up with water because water was a beverage that wasn’t at the wedding. The miracle that Jesus performed had a spiritual meaning to it that relates to the relationship that happens between the poor and the rich. Through the miracle that Jesus performed, Jesus was letting the people know that there will be a time when poor people will be respected by rich people. The water represented poor people and the wine represented rich people. Just as water was a beverage that was ignored by people and people didn’t have an interest in water at an event like a wedding, in the same way, rich people during the time of Jesus ignored and didn’t have an interest in people who were poor.
The reason why Jesus chose that kind of event to perform the miracle He did was because the people who were at the wedding were people who ignored and didn’t have an interest in poor people. When Jesus changed the water into wine that represented that one day poor people were the people who would be changed by the Holy Spirit from being people who were sinners to people who would be children of God. After poor people were converted than they would be people who would draw the attention of people who had ignore them in the past. After the conversion of poor people; poor people would be the people who the rich people would pay attention to and admire. For that reason, rich people would have a strong desire to be around the people who they once rejected. Matter of fact, Jesus was prophesying through the miracle that He had performed at the wedding, that poor people would be the only people that rich people would be interested in because of the things that poor people would be able to do through the power of the Holy Spirit because of their conversion.
During the time of Jesus and after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, Jesus spent a lot of time with poor people. Poor people were the only people who Jesus would spend most of His time with. Jesus didn’t have favorites. Jesus didn’t favor the poor people over the rich people, but it was the poor people who would humble themselves and receive Jesus and His teaching and the rich people were the people who rejected Jesus and His teachings.
That’s the reason why Jesus focused His attention on poor people rather than rich people. Poor people were the first people to receive the Holy Spirit after Jesus went back to the Father, just like poor people were the first people that Jesus dealt with when He was on this earth in the flesh. Poor people were water in society during the time of Jesus and rich people were wine in society during the time of Jesus. So the water turning into wine was the conversation the Holy Spirit would do in the hearts of the people who were poor. The water that Jesus changed into wine was better than the wine in which the people had already drank. When the water was better than the wine the people had already drank that represented that the poor people who would be converted from a sinner to a saint, they would offer something much better than what the holy prophets offered to the people in the Old Testament days.
The holy prophets in the Old Testament days offered the Word of God to the people, just like the people did in the New Testament days that were sent by God to the people of God, just like the holy prophets were sent by God to the people of God. The holy prophets preached the gospel of God just like the people who preached the gospel of God in the New Testament days, but the gospel was different. The gospel the holy prophets offered to the people was the gospel about the Kingdom of God and the gospel the New Testament saints preached was the gospel of Jesus. Both gospels offered salvation and sanctification to the people who were willing to obey the gospel they heard. The gospel the holy prophets preached offered salvation and sanctification to the people who were willing to obey it, but it didn’t give them complete power just like Jesus has complete power. The gospel the New Testament saints preached offered salvation and sanctification to the people who were willing to obey it, but it also offered complete power to the people who obeyed it.
That was the reason why the gospel that the New Testament saints preached offered something much better and greater than the gospel the holy prophets preached in the Old Testament days. The only reason why the saints in the New Testament days were able to preach a gospel that was much better and greater than the gospel the holy prophets preached was because of crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus. So for that reason, Jesus was the actual wine that was saved for last, which was the better wine, just like the water that Jesus changed into wine was the better wine than the wine in which the people at the wedding had already drank.
Out of all the holy prophets that the Father sent here on this earth, Jesus was the holy person that offered something much better than what the Old Testament prophets offered and because of Jesus, the New Testament saints were also able to offer a gospel that was much better than the gospel the holy prophets offered to the people in the Old Testament days. The gospel of Jesus was eventually received and accepted by the rich people after it was received by poor people, which was the reason why the water that Jesus had turned into wine was offered to the rich people at the wedding that Jesus had attended. Sometime after the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, both groups of people receive and accepted the gospel of Jesus, the rich people and the poor people.
