Harmless Lamb of God

I wrote the hymn/poem below after reading Hebrews 7:25-27 (KJV):

5 Wherefore he [Messiah Jesus] is able also to save them

to the uttermost that come unto God by him,

seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

26 For such an high priest became us, who is holy,

harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners,

and made higher than the heavens;

27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests,

to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins,

and then for the people's: for this he did once,

when he offered up himself.

Behold him, harmless Lamb of God,

who although separate from sin, here trod,

became the light for sinful men,

assumed skin, himself naught to amend.

Intercessor, unto this end

he pleads in Heaven after death.

No nail or curse or reason's frown

could halt his rise or stop prayers now.

Ascended, Christ astounds all senses,

conveys to Abba the "pardoned" census.

The Cross's Blood our guilt assuages

and seats us with the Rock of Ages.
