True Surrender

By Victor Remes

First of all, I would also want to apologise for the long hold up. But anyways let’s get to it.

This piece is about True Surrender I feel this is a very important part of our walk with Christ

Romans‬ ‭12:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬ -

“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

This verse says to be transformed, be changed and I know this is what everyone needs today. Both young and old, we need to surrender, we need a spiritual and moral change. This is why Jesus asks us to make a total surrender to Him.

Luke 18:18-24 NIV speaks of a certain ruler who asked Jesus about how he would be able to obtain eternal life.

Jesus responded by “You know the commandments: ‘You shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, honour your father and mother.’ ” - Luke‬ ‭18:20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

This ruler responded by saying he has kept all of these commandments since he was a little boy. - Luke 18:21 NIV

‭‭Jesus hearing this said “You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”” - Luke‬ ‭18:22‬ ‭NIV

Here Jesus is asking for the ruler to surrender all his riches, all his possessions and give to the poor. But catch this, when that ruler heard what Jesus said he became sad as he was very wealthy. - Luke 18:24 NIV

After that, we never hear about this certain ruler ever again. My question is what is Jesus asking you to surrender?

If this ruler had surrendered the very things; Jesus asked him he would’ve been counted as one of the disciples and not only that he would’ve been given eternal life.

I will leave you with this, Surrender is a chose not a command. We have the option to give up all, follow Jesus and have eternal life or just stay enslaved by the earthly possessions that will not last forever.

I pray that this blesses you all and I can’t wait to see you all next time.
