What Things?

After Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, he appeared to two puzzled disciples who were walking toward Emmaus.  The Apostle Luke describes the encounter (notice the verses that I bold):   LUKE 24:14-20 14 They were talking with each other about everything that had happened. 15 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; 16 but they were kept from recognizing him. 17 He asked them,

A Mercy Balm

Lord, You are greater than our conscience. You have gifted us Messiah’s mind. The summing of our fears, guilt, and chanced ifs are by the Spirit nullified.   Firstly, your forgiveness fashions ‘round our hearts a mercy balm. Lastly, we cannot merit the ransom You paid by heart, foot, brow and palm. When the mangling of accusation seeks to steal hope of New Life, we remember that Resurrection and Ascension give us rights.

The Fulness of Love

(The poem below, after reading 1 John 4:10-21 and 1 John 5:14-16, with particular focus on the bolded in 1 John 4:17 (KJV) ~ Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world)   Are we as God is? In this world, do we frame Him so that all men see?   This is revival, seen, pure: the Sin-bearer's love, the perfection of love.   Fearless before God, for He

Preaching Precedes the End Times

Is there a difference between TEACHING and PREACHING?  Over the years, there has been a fusing of different presentations.  Preaching, which was once the spear point of truth, has been replaced by the Teaching ministry.  Years ago, people filled the church with anticipation that God was going to speak.  When God manifested His Word through His anointed servant, people knew they were experiencing a very special moment.  Preaching is “heralding divine truth” under the anointing.  People were affec

Words of Splendor

Yesterday, as I was digesting the disquieting news of our world, a light shone on my purpose in life. Reflecting upon my existence, I realized human relations were the thing that made my life valuable and complete. Without interactions, experiencing life was just two- dimensional—me and things. But, with the presence of others, life becomes much richer and meaningful. Each day brings us opportunities to partake in meaningful exchanges. We can be a blessing to someone else, we can be blessed

Keep My Commandments To Be Blessed Proverbs 3:1-13 KJV

1...My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments; 2...For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. 4...Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: 5...trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not to thine own understanding. 6...In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths. 7...Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. 8...It shall be he

Outreach Guilt

There are many Christians that are carrying about a self-imposed guilt.  They feel guilty that they have never led anyone to a salvation experience.  Thinking they have failed the Lord, they revert to personal judgement, which affects their Christian walk.  Years ago, many churches were involved in a movement known as the Evangelism Explosion.  The purpose of that program was to reach as many people for Jesus Christ as possible.  Tracts and pamphlets were fast tracked to churches.  Teams of “sou

Currents of Life

The poem below, after musing about these passages from the Scriptures:     Psalms 11:1, 7 1 In the Lord I take refuge. How then can you say to me: "Flee like a bird to your mountain...?" 7 For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face. & Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. The eagle

Cease Fire!

I surrender.   My nerves can take no more. Ever feel this way?    The early disciples knew this feeling well. Persecuted by their own people, the dominant religion, and the oppressive government. The apostle Paul was directed by Jesus to help His disciples.   In his letter to the Philippians, chapter 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present our requests to God. And the peace of God, which tr

The Adams Family

Have you ever wondered why Cain killed his brother?  What possibly could have been the reason for Cain taking Abel’s life?  One day, on that “field of dreams,” Cain ended his younger brother’s life.  To understand this act of violence, we need to see the events that preceded this tragedy.    After the fall of Eve and Adam and God’s response to their disobedience, we see the first shedding of blood.  Adam and Eve had become aware of their physical differences.  The danger of that realit

End to End

When brooks are so clear, one sees the stones and surface, we touch, all, at once.   Likewise your grace, Lord, frees, end to end, the conscience,* awe gasps at fullness.   Brooks are far away yet echo “This is the day!” Our hearts and minds rest. __________ Hebrews 9:10; Hebrews 9:14
