When I realize that I have God’s Word in printed form before me, it causes an emotional reaction that defies reasoning. When Moses descended from Mt. Horeb with God’s Word etched in stone, it must have been a surreal experience for him. Today we have sixty-six books filled with the words of the living God. We have over forty transcribers that wrote as the Holy Spirit inspired them. God spoke through human writers declaring His dealings with His created. We have four Gospels that record the
Meditation before writing the song below:
9 Since we have now been justified by
his blood, how much more shall we be
saved from God's wrath through him!
10 For if, when we were God's enemies,
we were reconciled to him through the
death of his Son, how much more,
having been reconciled, shall we be
saved through his life!
11 Not only is this so, but we also rejoice
in God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through whom we have now received
A short hymn, after reading:
Psalm 28:7,9 and Psalm 29:1-2,10-11
Carry us forever, Oh Lord, in your arms,
faithful Great Shepherd whose lost sheep are found,
thereafter sustained by your strength at all hours.
We trust and You help, thus joyful praise sounds.
Give praise to the Lord, you set apart souls,
marvel at green pastures and creation's roar!
May the Lord bless people with His Shalom,
as songs ascend astride His Spirit's splendor!
For over three years Jesus taught His disciples the Word of God, (John 14:24) yet it wasn’t until Jesus revealed Himself to them after His resurrection that they truly understood His teachings. There were moments when Jesus’ teachings would get through their filtered ears and eyes. There were also times that Jesus rebuked them because of their lack of Faith. One would think that at least they would have anticipated His resurrection, but, instead they hid behind a locked door wondering if the
Not The Way I Planned
The world is a difficult place to survive. Sometimes life has so many confusing pathways to travel we end up in the wrong place or it’s too overwhelming and we just don’t move.
With all the responsibilities we have, it can feel like life is sitting on our chests crushing our lungs.
Proverbs 6:3 says, “In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth.” (MSG)
Oh, please I’d like some of that!
Today, there are Bible Schools, Seminaries, Colleges, and Pastoral Leadership Institutes that are dedicated to preparing individuals to carry the Banner of Truth. What is disconcerting is that many of these “schools” train individuals according to their Scriptural understanding. What they produce are extensions of their Biblical platforms. Their doctrines are presented with persuasive rhetoric that is readily adopted by their students. Today, it is very difficult to present a unifying messag
(look closely at the tree trunk. Do you see it? There is a hole with a leaf in it)
A thousand leaves near, beyond, ten thousand more,
yet fallenness cannot dismiss the leaf in the tree hole.
It is intact, stemmed, with color ordained,
free from the vanishing, till time makes it fade.
It witnesses to me, this leaf in the hole,
esconsed outside the kitchen, by the bay window.
Leaf in the tree and I grafted-in,
both it and I as if cleft of roc
I am amazed at the diversity of branches that have sprouted from the Vine of Truth; from the simplicity of Truth to the maze of differing dogmas the Church has fragmented into individual units. The singular Church is now identified in the plural and with that a diversity of teachings that displays different kinds of fruit. People are free to choose what “branch” offers the best fruit for their taste.
The consumer-based fruit produces a faith-based on emotions and feelings. To help
As a male, I have grown up working to be an independent, self-sufficient accomplisher, always striving to be successful in the world. Caring for my family, never letting anyone down, having all the answers, working to be someone thought admirable. This is a “male” thing, but I have known females to have the same mindset. Humans are encouraged in these behaviors.
Are these what God wants for our lives?
Throughout the Bible are examples of God wanting His people to depend u
