Tough WIP Questions - Just for Fun

Saw this on someone's blog this week and thought it looked like fun... Copy/paste the questions, and tell us about your WIP!

    1. When did you start writing your current WIP?

    July 8, 2009

    2. Where does your WIP take place?

    Kenya, London, France.

    3. Who is/are the main character/s of your WIP?

John Quinn - a wealthy, private, eccentric engineer.

Gabrielle Carmichael - the daughter of a Kenyan plantation owner.

Danny Irving - ambitious son of poor sharecroppers.

    4. Describe your main character(s) in one word.

    Quinn - Principled.

    Gabrielle - Adventurous.

    Danny - Ambitious.

    5. Open up your WIP to a random place and copy the first sentence you see

Maybe she does something she's worried about getting in trouble for. (A note from my outline sketches - since I haven't actually started writing it).

    6. If you were going to have lunch with one of your WIP's secondary characters, who would it be and why?

Jarvis Bettany, Quinn's manservant. He's a silent, mysterious, edgy character who fascinates me. He's tried to take over the story more than once!

    7. What do you consider your WIP's theme song and why?

"How to Save a Life" by The Fray

    8. What do you consider your main character's theme song?

Quinn - "The Problem" by Downhere

Gabrielle - "In This Life" by Delta Goodrem

    Danny - "Hero" by Skillet

    9. What's your favorite thing about your WIP?

The ending. But, of course, I can't tell. Ssh.

    10. If you're WIP were to be made into a movie, who would you pick to play your main character? Your villain?

    Quinn - Christian Bale

    Gabrielle - Keri Russell

    Danny - Leonardo DiCaprio

Hamilton Randolph, the baddie - Tom Wilkinson

    1. When did you start writing your current WIP?

August 2007 (I write reallllly slow!)

    2. Where does your WIP take place?

    The Hamptons, Long Island

    3. Who is/are the main character/s of your WIP?

Stephanie Ryder - a single mom and struggling small business owner.

Nate Ryder- An ex-convict and new christian. He's Stephanie's estranged husband.

    4. Describe your main character(s) in one word.

    Stephanie- haunted

    Nate- honorable

    5. Open up your WIP to a random place and copy the first sentence you see

Sometime between donating a room for an upcoming charity benefit and giving Paul Schuler directions to Hamptons Vegetarian, Stephanie met Vernon and Opal Beasley.

    6. If you were going to have lunch with one of your WIP's secondary characters, who would it be and why?

Sherita- she'd have me laughing all afternoon.

    7. What do you consider your WIP's theme song and why?

I have never thought about a song to go with my WIP, so answering questions 7 and 8 are really hard for me. I need to think about what soundtrack would go with this story.

    8. What do you consider your main character's theme song?

    9. What's your favorite thing about your WIP?

The twist which I haven't revealed yet.

At first glance, Nate is the one who needs forgiveness, but Stephanie's got a secret that's eating her up inside.

    10. If you're WIP were to be made into a movie, who would you pick to play your main character? Your villain?

    Nate- Jake Gyllenhall

    Stephanie- Jennifer Love Hewitt

Sherita (comic relief)- Sherry from the View

    Vernon Beasley- James Gandolfini

Opal Beasley- (? A rather large middle age woman)
Fun! Some of these questions are hard!

    My WIP is Safe Haven

    1. When did you start writing your current WIP?

I'm not sure. I know for sure that I had some written in the 11th grade of high school, so somewhere around 3 years ago.

    2. Where does your WIP take place?

    Several different places:
    Safe Haven (planet)
    Tadara (planet)
    Earth (planet, obviously)
    Nighthawk (ship)
    and some others.

    3. Who is/are the main character/s of your WIP?

Jennifer Sweet (maiden name) Raine (married name) Harris (assumed grandfather's name for a short time) – Peluri (non genetically engineered) ambassador from Safe Haven (although she was born on Vega IV).

Kyel Raine – Jenar (genetically engineered) ambassador from uh... I haven't decided what planet he came from. Wow. Okay. Something to figure out...

    4. Describe your main character(s) in one word.

    Jennifer – Resourceful
    Kyel - Purposeful

    5. Open up your WIP to a random place and copy the first sentence you see

Jennifer woke up in a cold sweat.

    6. If you were going to have lunch with one of your WIP's secondary characters, who would it be and why?

Rachel Forrest (maiden name) Reynolds (married name). Because she's my favorite character in the Nighthawk Series. (She's a secondary character in Safe Haven, but a main one in the Nighthawk Series.)

    7. What do you consider your WIP's theme song and why?

I don't know enough music to answer this question. I would probably write one. I did write one for the Nighthawk Series though, but it wouldn't really fit the novel.

    8. What do you consider your main character's theme song?

    Same as above.

    9. What's your favorite thing about your WIP?

The tense scene when Jennifer is a prisoner of war and she's taken before a Jenar council to be interrogated... and Kyel ends up saving her life.

    10. If you're WIP were to be made into a movie, who would you pick to play your main character? Your villain?

Haven't really seen any actors/actresses that would fit my characters. So I don't really care as long as they "look" something like I picture them.

I have several main villains: Sergeant Noogam (Peluri), Madame Blair (Jenar) and Chandra Tozay (Jenar).

    6. If you were going to have lunch with one of your WIP's secondary characters, who would it be and why?

Nathan. He's a very wise man, very thoughtful, but who still has a sense of humor.

    7. What do you consider your WIP's theme song and why?

Um..."Drive the Cold Winter Away" (an old Irish folk song)

    8. What do you consider your main character's theme song?

    Matthew - "The Impossible Dream"
Beatrice - The Shrek version of "I Need a Hero"
    Syntyche - "May It Be"
Clement - He's the least developed yet, so I'm not sure. Maybe "Whiskey in the Jar?" No, not really!

    9. What's your favorite thing about your WIP?

Developing the characters - also one of the hardest things!

    10. If you're WIP were to be made into a movie, who would you pick to play your main character? Your villain?

Um...some unknown actors? Yeah, that's it!
