Publish, and your book will probably perish
Here's an interesting article on the current state of publishing in Canada...

Times are tough all over, but for new writers, this business has always been tough. Anyone, no matter where, trying to break into publishing as a new writer, better does so for the sheer love of it. Going into the business with the idea of making a great living, is folly and overall has less odds then Vegas.
Love of writing must be the driving force, if not, frustration will be a constant companion.
A difficult business in the best of times, has become even harder for a first time author in this economy. Publishers are cutting costs like crazy, laying off people etc, it is inevitable that authors will be affected.
Many of us, like most people in this environment, must find creative ways to get our work read. Lucky for us, there are many more opportunities today then there ever were before.

Ransom, the link you provided is to a post made over two years ago. Do you have something more up-to-date?
Thanks.

Well, think of everything said in there, only multiply it by our crappy economy.
