Hi, folks. Popping in to tell you of another Christian "vampire" story coming out this fall: SHADE, by John Olson. Pubbed by Broadman & Holman. Here's a blurb about the story:
Whom do you trust when you can no longer tell reality from fantasy? A monstrous waking nightmare is pursuing graduate student Hailey Maniates across her San Francisco campus to Golden Gate Park where she is rescued by a towering homeless man. She seems able to read her rescuer’s mind, to feel his emotions. But is it all a delusion? Doctors diagnose her as a paranoid-schizophrenic and attempt to prescribe away her alleged hallucinations. But too many questions remain. And when Hailey tracks down her rescuer, Melchizadek, he appears to suffer from her same mental condition. He’s convinced that some type of ancient Gypsy vampire is trying to kill them both. Against reason, Hailey finds herself more and more drawn to this strange man. But what if he is only a fantasy? What if he is the monster?
Another novel to be sure to buy when it releases.
This novel, finally being published, has quite a story behind it. Before he was published, John went to Mount Hermon with this "vampire" manuscript a number of years of ago. All the editors were buzzing about his writing. He was the new golden boy. However none of them could published the story. Too "out there." Now it's being pubbed. Shows how much our industry is changing...

Let's also hope it turns a profit and keeps the industry changing in the right direction, too.

There is still something I don't get why is it that we feel like we have to "write God into the story" or "make it Christian" to feel like we are glorifying God in it? This might be a bit off topic, but I just read a few of you talking about it, as well as it being interjected into discussions all throughout this site.

My story is really a documentary and not fiction, why I no longer add to this thread as it is in the wrong place, but if in telling things it only calls attention to me then it is a total waste of time even if it made me rich and famous.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel. Mark 5:18-20

Hmm... Daniel, I think those who wish to inject God stuff into horror stories are few and far between. For many Christians the idea that there can be Christians writing fantasy and sci-fi is horrifying enough for them, let alone horror!
