Need help with health, finances, goals

    Back again...

Got a few things I need some prayer on...

First, my health. I'm normally a healthy person, but this last year has just slammed me with bugs and colds. I had a flu-like virus a couple weeks ago, and the tendrils are still hanging on. I've been coughing for 2 weeks now, and can't seem to shake it--to the point I'm starting to wonder if I may have a pneumonia or something. I feel like I'm at about 90% strength, but if I have to chase my daughter up and down the stairs in our house, or just take the laundry from the basement to the bedroom level (3 - 1/2 flights, or 1.5 flights) I'm completely exhausted. Although hubby understands I'm still coughing, he doesn't seem to understand that it's taking a toll on how I handle things. I'm considering seeing the doctor on Monday, if I can get in.

Second, finances are still tight. I've been trying to find a job, either work-from-home, or temp retail, or SOMETHING, but it's hard to feel like getting out and putting in apps when I'm still not well, and when I have a 14 month old in tow, or even doing the foot-work for the work/home stuff. I have decided to take a step forward and become an Arbonne consultant (I've been registered to buy their products for forever), but of course this takes time and energy to build a business, and my hubby's not the patient sort as of late.

I'm thinking right now that we won't really have a Christmas, or not between us, maybe just a few things for our daughter, and either something small, or nothing at all for the rest of our family... which is kind of sad when this is our little girl's first *real* Christmas she may be able to remember.

I know it's tough for everyone right now given the state of our economy (thank you, idiots in Congress!) so maybe we should pray for EVERYONE! :/

Also, I'm trying to work on setting goals, especially for the new business startup, though with as down as I've been lately, I'm starting to get the idea of 'what's the use?'. I hate it when I have these thoughts, especially since it tends to bleed over into my writing.

There's so much going on in my house that I don't want to deal with that I'm finding that I push it off. My office is a wreck; other than this afternoon when hubby pretty much forced me to work in there, I can't remember the last time I spent more than a couple minutes at a time in there (the stack of papers I sort of went through was atrociously tall...)

Sometimes, I've been wishing to live in a different time, where life wasn't necessarily easier, but simpler.

Anyway, any prayers, advice, whatever would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same bug as you it seems. I'll be praying.

I'm praying, Liberty. As for Christmas, your daughter won't remember what her gifts were. It won't take much to make her happy, just a couple small things to open and play with. I have 5 children and they didn't care much about gifts until they were closer to school age.

Skeeter's right. Kids at that age love the boxes more than anything. Hope you get to the doctor. Will be praying!

Liberty, I totally know where you are coming from with your angst about Christmas, because we have been in your position for many years in a row. My husband and I don't really exchange gifts, and typically, for the adults in out family, we usually invest time instead of money in making candy or cookies. As for our children, the only thing I have found that "small Christmases" have done "to" them is foster a spirit of deep gratitude in them, even as very young children. Yes, they still ask for things they'd like for Christmas, and they usually get a couple of those things. But when they do unwrap those couple of gifts, they are full of joy. Never have we seen that scenario where they tear through gifts and finish with that gluttonous look of "What, that's it?"

But anyway, I don't say all this to brag about my children, but to encourage you that a Christmas without a mountain of gifts is not a bad thing. The Lord has really used our lean Christmas scenario to work on my heart about what is important about the holiday at the core. While giving gifts if fun and heartwarming, the Lord really impressed upon me that I needed to be able to have joy at Christmas even if there was not a single package under the tree.

I am certainly praying for all the practical things of life as well: your health, your finances, your marriage, and wisdom to manage them all. Blessings to you!
