Have you ever attended a writer's conference?
Have you ever attended a writer's conference?
If so, what did you think?
If not, why not?

In the 1990's I attended several conferences put on by American Christian Writers. These were a huge benefit to me. When the door opened for me to work in publishing (first as a copy editor, then as a ghostwriter), I felt prepared because of everything I had learned at conferences--especially about how the publishing process works. And the opportunity to meet with editors and agents is priceless.
Next month I'm attending the C.S. Lewis Southwest Regional Retreat and Writer's Workshop. I'm especially looking forward to the novel-writing track with Joy Jordan-Lake.

Never been. Too expensive. Too much traveling. Too many people.
Bad excuses, all, I know.

I've never been, but I may go when I get further along in my writing journey.
From a conference I would first look forward to professional feedback, and second to good teaching.

Technically, no, since there weren't agents and editors there. But, I have attended conferences geared for mystery writers--with police, lawyers, p.i.'s, etc.--that have helped tremendously where my understanding is concerned.
One of these days, I'll get to a conference. I really, really, really want to go to Bouchercon.... one of these days....
