If we seek not to know the truth, then we seek to know nothing. As ones who are quickened by the Spirit, our lives are now become spiritual and the rules have changed drastically. We now walk in two worlds and have two natures, flesh and spirit. Being born of the Spirit, we begin our spiritual lives as infants. We are a new creation, and have been made alive in Christ, by Christ!

Where then shall we turn for our spiritual truth and instruction? You see, the flesh profits nothing and is unable to teach us a single thing pertaining to our new spiritual lives. We have been born from above, born of the Spirit. As such, we must seek information that comes from above and is from the Spirit. He is our teacher, our consoler and our guide. If we are to learn any spiritual truth, it will be taught by way of the Spirit, not by the ways of man!

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God”. In the same way our physical bodies must be fed physical food, our spirits must be fed spiritual food; if we are to grow to maturity that is. We indeed have been born of God, and we have but one source of “God Breathed” information, the Bible. It is our spiritual handbook and our source of eternal truth. It is the Living Word of God, sharper than any double edged sword, dividing even to the soul.

“All scripture is God Breathed and useful for teaching correcting and training…” The Oracles of God and the person of God are one and are indivisible. How else could it ever be said, “The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us”? Therefore, if we seek to imbed the Word of God in our hearts and minds, it is actually the mind of Christ that we have hidden within us. Indeed, it is God Himself, the All Knowing One. What shall we gain if we neglect this knowledge imparted to us through His Word? Shall we refuse to search for the deep eternal truths contained within it? May it never be! It is for our sake that it has been given. It is a spiritual gift form God and it is loaded to the hilt with reward!

“Be transformed by renewing your mind” is what we are told. “Like newborn babies long for the pure spiritual milk of the Word, that by it you may grow in respect to salvation”. Gods Word is truth and we are to seek His truth, know it, and grow to the point of transformation. No transformation will ever come apart from seeking and knowing the truth God has intended for us to know. We may fancy ourselves to be one of the sharper tools in the shed, knowledgeable and wise, but if we know not His truth, we know not any spiritual truth at all.

We should not be the kind of spiritual beings that know nothing of our own spiritual lives. We must seek out every truth as a treasure made of pure gold. Seek then to know every truth contained in the Biblical text. By His word and through His word ALL THINGS have been created. If our minds, souls and bodies have been created by the word of His mouth, how much more will He feed His creation by the very thing that He used to create us? His ways are not our ways and we will we will understand nothing apart from HIM. Here then is another valuable truth I have found; “Without Him We can do nothing!” Seek to know the truth. For it is written, and our eternity has been revealed!

That is very true. In a related thought, Romans says we must take every thought captive in obedience to Christ. We cannot understand God or His Word throught the natural, and our thought processes, without diligent training, are of the natural, fleshly man. We must even examine the apparently good thoughts to see if they agree with the mind of Christ. In that way we can begin to renew our minds and put on the mind of Christ.

Your piece contains encouragement to seek God and grow in almost every paragraph.

Just as the word of God is useless to us without the Spirit`s enlightenment, so the Word of God means nothing unless the Spirit quickens the recipient, as you say.

Asking for wisdom to understand God`s word, and the ability to live in the truth of it, should accompany every reading of the Scriptures.

I have a friend who believes we should ask for God`s protection each day, as that`s what she understands this part of the Lord`s prayer to mean, "...lead us not into temptation."

I sought the Lord on this and the Spirit showed me, I believe, the interpretation is..." keep us on Your righteous path Lord, don`t let us stray onto our own, of human frailty, and sin...." a big difference!

A very useful piece - thank you!

This is a very needed word. Too often we look at the spiritual with eyes of the flesh which brings confusion. There is a real struggle that goes on in our walk with the Lord until we understand the spiritual is real and the flesh only temporary and it can be brought under the Lord's control. The Holy Spirit has given you Godly insight. May the Lord continue in His blessing to you,
Margaret

Your article is a wonderful expression of your knowledge and understanding of what a relationship with God is all about and how else can you have that relationship unless you come to know Him through His word, the Bible?

I was truly blessed by reading the truth of your words. Your article is clear and to the point, and demonstrates a mature understanding of God's word. In it you present points which remind readers to reflect upon the truths of scripture and to consider where they are in relation to where they should be as disciples of Christ. I always appreciate a reminder to re-align my priorities and spend more time with God through study of the Word. Thanks for reminding me of the importance of spiritual nourishment, as I continually seek to etch out more time for personal study and meditation in the Word. Be Blessed,Charity!

Hey - sharp stuff, SharpStuff! Thank you for reminding me, and encouraging me. It's good to go back and review the basics and remember from where God has brought us and the price He paid! I am grateful and humbled to know He has provided every single thing I could ever need to live on this rock by standing on The Rock and knowing His word. GBKY (GodBless+KeepYou)

Might I suggest some new truthes! to look into that your journey might be easier. First we are made of three beings Spirit, Soul, and Body. Now instead of look at this being as one of flesh having a spirit, try looking at it first as a spirit living in a fleshly body. The renewing our minds you mentioned is actually letting our spirit man take more and more control of our fleshly man, and that is why Paul said he died every day.
Just something to check out.
