Microsoft has opened up testing of Vista RC1 right now for a limited time.

You have to give about as much info as you would to sign up for email, my understanding is the license is only valid for one year, and you'll want to set up a second partition to run this on dual-boot or run it on a spare machine. The 32-bit version is 2.5 gigs, there's also a 64 bit version. You'll need a DVD burner to burn the download, or you can order the software on DVD from Microsoft.
Early word is, it's more efficient than XP pro and many users have reported informally that it seems to speed their systems up.
