The Parent to Parent organization selected my book, "Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter," for the 2006 "Best of the Best Adding Wisdom Award." Parent to Parent is an internationally syndicated newspaper column. According to their web site, products must meet stringent standards and pass the tough criteria of a panel of experts from across the United States. These judges look for quality products that will be valuable resources for families. After the committees approve products, they are given to Family Testers, real families, for evaluation before final decisions are reached.
Here's what Jodie Lynn, syndicated parenting/health expert, radio personality, and author of the family/parenting book, "Mom CEO," had to say about my book:
"HUGS, HOPE and PEANUT BUTTER is a great book for parents, teachers, and patients in hospital and clinic waiting rooms. It recounts funny stories about everything from wild bears to pet pigs, which have all been a small comfort on any given day in avoiding an otherwise difficult experience associated with a stressful dilemma in everyday life. Our Family Testers found
the book to be incredibly uplifting. It helped us to laugh at life as opposed to sitting down and crying over difficult
challenges. Personally, I loved it and found Marsha to be a true inspiration!"
I'm thrilled with receiving the Adding Wisdom Award!!! I've lived with chronic pain for many years and I've undergone some sad situations. Through my book, I try to show readers that we can have peace and joy -- no matter what our circumstances -- because God loves us and goes with us through the storms of life. The purpose of my book is to entertain readers with humor while encouraging them and leading them to God. Having this goal recognized with Parent to Parent's Adding Wisdom Award is a great honor. Other winners of this award include PBS and Nestlé's new web site for kids, so I'm among some impressive company!
Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter is illustrated with 40 drawings by critically ill and injured children. I founded a charity for sick kids, and the children I've come to know as a result provided the drawings that went into the book. You can read about "my kids," the HUGS and HOPE Foundation, and my book at www.hugsandhope.org Drop in for a visit!
