I have just finished the copyright form TX to send off with my manuscript for "Kingmetolik Creek" the companion book to "The Bush Pilot's Daughters" Tomorrow it goes in the mail and I will apply for my distribution package/ISBN number with Lulu.

This self-publishing thing is kind of fun, but as I admitted elsewhere, getting them in the stores is no easier than with Publish Amerika books. On the brighter side, I did a newspaper interview today that sought me out for it.

With my current project, I plan to submit it through a mainstream Christian publisher, and do a lot of praying about it.

Thats great David about the interview! It's wonderful when the Lord makes the connection for us. And this self publishing thing is great. I can't wait to finish my 3rd in the "light" series and publish it. Of course I was hoping PA would have published the 1st one by now but they don't even mention it anymore. Guess they'll wait the full year. I don't even go on their site anymore. I've just lost my taste for PA. Or I should say they left a BAD taste in my mouth!

David,
Congratulations! It sounds like you are learning the publishing business from all angles. May you have great success with all your books!

I finally, as of this morning, have my copy of "Your Novel Propsal from creation to contract" in my eager hands to read. I am saving the first story chronologically in my series for submission to real publishers. Then I will mention the other two once it is accepted. (See, I have faith that it will be.)

Thanks for all of your help, and thanks to others who have helped me along the way, and thank you Lord, for sending these people to me.

Congrats on all the success you've had with your books. I will pray for you as far as getting to the mainstream publishers.

I have a question for you, and anyone else that can answer. Do you recommend copywriting your book before publishing? (I'm not going the self-publish route, so I don't know if you do this because of that, or it's just a good idea in general).

I have had intellectual property stolen before. Besides the $30 for form TX to copyright a literary piece is not that awful. You just go to http://www.copyright.gov/forms/formtxi.pdf
fill in the blanks, print, sign and mail.

I think Writer's Digest. com has like this annual contest for self-published books where the winner gets a contract with a big publisher. Might be worth checking out. Although to be honest, I haven't been to WD in ages...life has just been so hectic.
