The story goes that J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were looking around them at the literature landscape of their day and noticed that nobody was writing the kind of quality fiction that they wanted to read, so they took it upon themselves to write the good stuff themselves.

I suspect they had no idea how radical their simple idea would turn out to be, nor how successful their stories would become.

Beginnings are like that.

It's our turn now.

Dragons, Knights, and Angels (http://dkamagazine.com/) magazine, The Magazine of Christian Fantasy and Science Fiction, (aka DKA), is pleased to announce that, effective immediately, we are doubling pay-out rates for both fiction and poetry sales.

Thanks to the tireless efforts by Editor-in-Chief Bill Snodgrass, the DKA editorial staff, and Double-Edged Publishing, Inc. (http://www.doubleedgedpublishing.com/), strong early 2006 donations have made it possible to increase our payment rates to $10 for fiction and $5 for poems.

We believe that increasing the payment rates for authors while keeping the e-zine free for readers will help us field better fiction, stronger stories, deeper poetry, more challenging works all-around.

But 2006 is young and we're just getting started...
