We have many wonderful people at Christian Writers and interesting new folks signing up with us all the time. However, a few have missed reading the posting guidelines, apparently, and I want to take time to review part of them here.

From the guidlines:

This is NOT a debate forum.

This is not a theological discussion forum. You may believe that you have a unique revelation from God. Don't use this as a forum to share it.

If you believe that you have a belief system or lifestyle that makes you "holier" than everyone else... keep it to yourself. We consider haughty, argument, and ultimately divisive behavior to be TROLLING and will deal with it as such. In other words, if you can't get along with the other kids, take your ball and go home.

One last thing... thread hijacking will not be tolerated. If you feel you must change the focus of the conversation, I suggest you learn to use the "Post New Thread" button. There is absolutely no reason to tack an unrelated question, comment, or reply onto somebody else's thread for the purpose of changing the direction of replies. It's a common courtesy, nothing more.

As always, any post or announcement Rebecca makes superceeds what is posted here.

Now, please fasten your seatbelts and return your table trays to an upright position...

*********

We are a family here, people get along quite well and we help each other. When that does not happen the goal of raising up Christian Writers is impaired. There has been debate going on in some threads, there has been arguing. There are countless other places on the web where you can do that, not here. If you have some 'great thing' to say that is divisive in nature, by all means, put it on your blog. People can argue with you there. It will not be tolerated here.
WG summed it up well: "If you can't play nice with the other kids, take your ball and go home." By all means. The rest of us have writing to do.

Or like we used to say to kids at school - "take it outside"! People are always free to discuss things privately in email.

Thanks for posting, Merry! I do enjoy the family atmosphere here.

I wanna play ball in this park!
Turn my hat backwards
take my stance
and go for the gold!
Batter up!

(that was not a poem)
(or an intentional thread hijacking)

Howdy Merry: Quick Question... What specifically falls under thread hijacking? I'm just asking because there have been a few times when I've targeted something specific in a lengthy thread and responded to it- even though that particular comment might not have been exactly and specifically the topic of conversation. Did I accidentally hijack the thread? (Which, btw, is such a cool phrase- kudos to whoever thought that up) Never done it intentionally to change the flow of conversation, just responding to what caught my attention.

Anyway, thanks a bunch! I agree that the infighting tends to be uncomfortable.

You just summed it up very well: intent. The classic hi-jack is a little like the telephone game. Someone starts a thread topic and someone else interjects so much of what THEY feel like talking about, the initial thread starter is stepped on. The thread is no longer what it started out to be and usually bickering results. No, I haven't seen you hijack a thread. Naw Kilo, you've been great.

But let me say, for you guys that have been posting and encouraging people and helping where you can, this thread is not directed at you. I realize it's the good-hearted folks who are always the first to wonder what they're doing wrong, and bless your hearts!

This is one of those threads where if the shoe fits then you need to quit what you're doing or wear it out the door. If it doesn't fit, really, don't worry about it.

Thanks for the reminder Merry, I need to learn about blogs, pointers anyone?
Also, is there a Christian forum to discus the news of the day, can anyone direct me some where?
I came here to talk about writing, I will try to keep a better focus.

Tim, they have some pretty lively debates and news forums over at: http://www.christianforums.com/

There's also http://www.praize.com/

Hmmm... blogs. The most popular blog site seems to be http://www.blogger.com It's free, just sign up, pick a theme you like, and jump in. If you know some basic html, you can edit the template more to your liking.

http://www.blogthing.com/ is another free host, they use Wordpress, which is a little more advanced (I like Wordpress better than Blogger, though I've never used this particular host).
